YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY? Follow These Steps & Get More Biz Period!

Just wanted to share something with warriors its been a while..Everyone in business I believe is a sales person believe it or not. You have to know how to sell to stay in business. I have sold everything In-Person/Door to Door and by phone from vacuums, energy solutions, home based biz, cars and more. I have always used these steps an still as a business owner I still use them on a constant basis and have been successful using them.

10 Steps To A successful Sale:

1.Meet and Greet
People make a decision whether they like you or will by from you within the first 90 sec of meeting you. First impressions mean everything.

2.Establish Rapport
Find out what the likes and dislikes of the customer are. Also find their hot buttons (Things that motivate/concern them).

3.Selecting Proper Product
Many times sale people go and try to offer a customer more than they can handle or need.If you established rapport then you will be able to separate their wants from their needs/what they can afford.

4.Quality Presentation ($100,000 Presentation)
Its showtime now! If a customer can't find value in your product/service you can forget about it, just save yourself some time and leave them alone.

5.Demo Product
Give the customer a demonstration. Show the customer how your service can help them or meet their need. If you offer a service show the customer how you have helped others or the product/service you offer has helped others.

6.Support
Always let your customer know that you will be there for them. Customers don't want to buy if they don't have a sense of, "We are in this together, your not alone". You have to provide that feeling.

7.Evaluation
Proper evaluation of a customer and their situation is imperative. You must be able to do this proper before the next step. Look wit your eyes and ears.Do more listening than talking.

8.Negotiate Terms ( Most sales people are scared of this step.)
Show Me The Money! You have not, cause you ask not. If you have followed all of the steps above you should be comfortable enough to ask customers to pay you what you think your worth. Customers are going to say "No", get use to it. Always show the customer why they should say "YES".

9.T.O (Turnover) To Management
This works in many cases. In some cases its not necessary.
Example: I use to call my wife after I earned a client or customers business and say, "Mr.Customer just signed up and I wanted to introduce you to Mr.Customer. She would thank Mr.Customer for his business and tell him if there is anything he/she needed she would be more than happy to assist. She would then give customer her contact info. This makes the customer feel even more comfortable about their decision because now they peace of mind so to speak.

10. Delivery
If you don't deliver on what you offer you know you will not be in business long. Don't over deliver cause of desperation it will come back to bite you. Keep your word to the customer. Although customers know we are not perfect you still should let them know in advance if something changes.

These are the steps to a Successful Sale no matter what you sell or offer.Even if you are a business owner the steps have worked for me for years.
I have found that Repeat/Refferal customers are always much easy to sell to. Following up with customers/clients is vital to having success in any business.

I use to hear this in the car business years ago, "Buyers are Liars". How many times when you first meet a customer/client before you can even start a sales pitch they say: No/ I cant afford it/ I don't need it/ I can only spend this much.
Nevertheless they end up buying your product/service they did not want and spending double what they said they can't spend? People do it everyday, I know I have.

Feel free to share what steps/process/system you follow to get business or make sales.

    11. Gather referral. Have a free gift that you give out to prospective clients.

(The best free gift is a 10-20 page report on the problem you have just solved for your client. The report talks about the problem(s) and gives a broad outline of a solution, but no details. Print a price for the report on the front cover -- perhaps about $27.00.

You give the report away for free, but make sure that anyone you give it to knows that you are doing them a favour).

Take the free gift to the client who you've just delivered to and say: "We just helped you with this problem. Who can I send this gift to so that we can let them know we can help, should they ever need us?

They can keep it on file 'till the day comes when they need this advice, then in their hour of need .... they'll thank you!"

Try to get three referrals from each client. If you can turn one out of every three referrals into a sale -- you'll never need to cold call again.

Roypreece great input. Most business owners or salesman don't ask for refferal. Every customer/Client I spoke with I would always ask the important question, "Who Do You Know Family/Friend/Co-Worker ?" I know most really successful salespeople/business owners make their living from repeat and refferal customers not the business the go out and recruit.

    12. Offer a guarantee

This way you can reverse the risk and place it entirely on you. This will actually increase sales because it lets the buyer know that they can return it if they don't like the product. But most of the times, with a long guarantee (12 months), they won't return it.

You should also come up with a risk guarantee, something that will definitely push the "potential buyer" to transform into a "buyer". He must believe that there's no risk in the buying he is making.

I make it a point to read up on at least one of these improvement articles at least once a day. I see WarriorForum has it's fair share of these! Great post, and I gotta agree with you on the Negotiate terms part.

I work on a very personal level with my clients so it's important for me to be flexible, but make sure not to be a pushover.

Continue to mail your prospects. Sometimes 1 mailing isn't enough. Mail your prospect 3 times in the first month of acquiring them, and then once a month for a year. You'll improve your conversion rates like this, and will gain new customers simply because you were persistent.

  • Hi BMitch

That is a very good list and a great reminder for people that are trying to sell things to people. However, I have found that one of the biggest challenges with offline marketing is that small businesses are getting bombarded all the time with people trying to sell them things. SEO, advertising etc etc.

As such I have had the most success not by trying to sell to people but by giving them something of value up front first (usually a free video). This helps to take care of No 1,2, 4 and 5 straight away. It also builds a high level of trust and credibility. That way when I meet with them I don't actually have to sell because they are more than willing to buy.
