SMS & Mobile Marketing Cold Call & Cold Walk Scripts

Hi all,
I know there are a lot of people out there looking for a decent cold call framework or outline. I just started calling this week and am getting 2 appts. per day (I have 6 total scheduled).

I've been cold calling for other businesses for a number of years, so it's something that doesn't bother me. I'm not going to say I love it, but it's really not that big of a deal.

I usually take a bunch of different people's "pitches" and use what I like from and leave what I don't.

I'd love to see what other people use to get appointments for SMS or I guess just offline services in general if you wouldn't mind sharing.

Thanks in advance.

Call me lazy, but basically all I do is write articles for local newspapers, trade journals, and Chambers of Commerce newsletters about this technology. They call me up, and I send out my techs. There is a huge demand for these services, and it seems most businesses have already been approached. You just need to position yourself as knowledgeable and authoritative.

How do you go about getting the articles published in the newspapers and in the Chamber of Commerce newsletters?

I have been doing mobile web designing since the beginning of the year..I am just now offering services in SMS..I got a provider...and now I am building my own list I own targeting people who go to clubs here in San Francisco...once I get 500 on my digital list I will go to the clubs here and offer to do a blast for x amount of dollars to a very target list of club goers...you ask how to get a quality list of night club goers..well here in SF its pretty easy since there are dozens and dozens of clubs here...I like free or the least amount of money to spend...so I have business size cards made up that have a call to action for night club goers...I go to a night club on a Friday night and hand out the cards...plenty of people to hand out to..there are so many ways to market mobile..what awesome niche to be in..Fresh and wide open...dont let another day go by...take action..

Scott, Great post. You're right. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of another idea.

As for a script... I basically use, give me 15 and I'll show you why you need this.

I sell an appointment on the call, and sell the service in the appointment.

Here is what I do to get my 2 appointments a day...

How I found my way to getting clients was cold calling...where I found it easiest for me was calling companies that have placed offers from Living Social, Gilt City ect..I go after restaurants, hair salons and jewelery...here is my pitch.....

"my name is__________and I'm a local business owner, I saw your website this morning, but noticed you don't have a mobile website.

I would like to share with you how mobile marketing could enhance customer
accessibility to your business and provide you with potentially hundreds of new and returning customers every month."

I will create a home page of your current site for you that is mobile ready all I ask is for a 10 minute meeting to share the value of mobile marketing."
My main agenda is to get 10 min appointments..I make 20 calls I get 1-2 meetings...I do it 4 times a week Mon-Thur out of 5 10 min. meetings I get 2 closed.

When I go to the meeting I bring a one page mock up of their site...that visual works seeing their site on a smartphone vs the mock up..they are taken back...and quickly realize they need it.

Yeah, that's the way to go. I'm a firm believer that the only thing you should try and sell over the phone is an appointment.

Stop pitching and offer value.... works extremely well for us, offer something of HIGH perceived value for their time. I will do ____________ for you if you can give me 20 minutes of your time.

I wouldn't even talk SMS until you are sitting down with them... SMS is kinda uknown to them and trying to talk about that over the phone won't work.

    Best of luck

    Hi OfflineMan:
What kind of things do you offer over the phone in the way of value? This is a great model and I have used it in other businesses, but I can't think of what to offer upfront in this situation. Thanks MK

You could offer a free analysis of their website and how it matches up to their competition. You could also give them a free report on how to market their business using Facebook if you see they have a facebook page.

I wish i could use these scripts to close over the phone.I've tried but it's just a waste of time.
I can't meet them even i wish i could ... if anyone knows some method or already close over the phone maybe he/she can share some stuff with us.
My offer is: Custom Mobile Websites for their business + free QR codes + basic mobile SEO
How would you approach businesses and how would you close them over the phone?

I know it would take 2-3 times to talk with them but that won't be a problem
    Thanks

In my case, I find that I can never follow a script.

The better I know the material, the less I need a script.

Having a script is only necessary as an ice breaker. Once you have broken the ice with your prospects, then the questions your prospects will ask will drive the conversation where it needs to go.

Only script as much as is necessary to encourage participation from your prospect. Your knowledge of your offer will carry you through the rest of the process naturally.

Anyone use a script when calling on people that are already using coupons in newspapers and Valpack type mailers about using text message marketing?

If it's something you can't explain to them easily over the phone then you shouldn't even be mentioning it on the phone. Talk in their language. More customers and more money is all they care about. Show them how you can get them both and they will eat out of your hands.

The advantage of using a script is that you can measure the success rate - kind of like doing a Adsense PPC campaign. You can even try out a few scripts and see which works best! And refine as needed. Design the script such that you sound natural, and be at ease.
