Building an offline business and creating a team

Hey WF, I have just recently jumped into the world of offline marketing and I am ready to go full force into it. I have overloaded on information on this forum on what to offer businesses, and at first I was just looking to target small businesses with no websites and offer them web-design, but then I thought, well the real money is going to lie in marketing for these businesses so that is where I am at now.

I want to create a marketing package that I can sell to these businesses and I am not sure how to build this package. I am also basically looking to outsource most of the work but I need to make sure I still am profitting, but here is a list of what I want to offer:
  • Web design for businesses with no website.
  • Monthly Maintenance of their website
  • Facebook Fan Page
  • SMS marketing
  • Video Marketing
  • Google Place ongoing service
And that is all I have thought of so far, but my biggest problem is that I do not know how to offer these packages when I am not fully educated on each of these, and as I said I am looking to outsource most of the work, and I am looking to build a long term team of people, so where should I go to start building this team? If possible, I would like to work with people here on WF more than anything, but first I need to figure out how exactly to approach my leads with this.

Any and all tips and advice is welcome and greatly appreciated, thank you.

I am in the process of doing the exact same thing. Maybe we should talk? I have two other angles that I am using that you did not mention as well.

now just get the clients - each of them may have different needs. Listen to them and you'll find out what they need. Put together a sample package of what you can do, or have done.
How do you find your clients - that's what you need to figure out.

I've been in the merchant services industry for 7 years I just started offering my current clients most of these additional services as a way to generate additional revenues and help decrease churn(as merchant account are starting to become commoditized) as well as a way to get my foot in the door with new merchants. However I've been thinking about starting a JV with some of the other offliners here where as they can add in merchant services to their offering to help them close more deals and earn additional monthly residuals(anywhere from $15-$100/mo depending on the monthly credit card volume of the client)from the merchant services end without doing any of the work. This can work with both your new clients as well as your existing clients. If anyone is interested please let me know. This is real easy money for you.

      Hello JT

That is a pretty good start. What about Google/Yahoo/MSN/Bing PPC?
Might want to consider some Blogging and Banner Advertising as well.

I think I'd like talk with you guys too. I'm trying to put together a "city" wide concept offering the same services you've listed, among others.

I've put together a pretty simple wordpress design system from a naked theme but may need some photoshop designers to minimize my time. I can do the photoshop design but would rather "sell" the jobs really. I can provide hosting, since I have hosted websites for years as a reseller.

I have a couple jobs paying me monthly right now but really want to ramp it up to get more monthly residuals going. I've got some good ideas so I can share in the developments...

I have lots of ideas and could use some partners to work with...

Keep in mind that small business owners don't know or care about the techno part of internet marketing. SMS, video marketing, Wordpress, etc. mean very little to them. They are interested in one thing:

      >> How to get customers consistently and at a low acquisition cost per customer.

The funny thing is that we as internet marketers want the same thing. So put yourself in their shoes and figure out what is really needed to get them more customers.

Then create a package that takes care of that problem. If you believe in the package that you created, then it becomes a lot easier to "sell it" to your client. Your client will believe in what you have to say and "buy" the package as-is because you told them that it will get them more customers.

Typically, I find that Google Places and an optimized Wordpress site gives the best return on investment. I also kick-start a campaign with some PPC. Facebook may be hot and sexy at the moment, but it requires a lot of manual labor to build up and maintain a following. This usually eats into your profitability if your client is not willing to help with the social media.

A word of warning. Website design can be a beast and kill 100% of your profitability. Here is why: While most client's eyes glaze over when you talk about SEO and link-building, they become overly energetic when you talk about website design. Since the beauty of the design is subjective, you may never be able to please the client with the look of the website. So limit yourself via your contract to XX number of revisions.

Good luck to you and your venture.

You can find most of the info you're looking for here on the forum or with some quick searches in google.

There's also lots of good PLR guides and videos available on the forum that'll help educate you about these things and also give you something to use to promote your services to clients.

If you're still looking for some website or mobile site design help, let me know and if we can do something together I've got plenty of PLR material I've written myself about many web related topics.

    Cheers,

    Steve

One of the problems i had when i first started with off-line marketing was too much information - it was crazy!
There is too much of everything, and everyone has different methods.
I went into video marketing - get your clients found online - that's the most important thing - from there - finding out what your client needs is easy, then fill that need. it's different with each person. I outsource - to fiverr - been happy so far, and everything there is $5 - won't break my budget. From there I can build a team if I like. I've hired people in the past, as employees, but then I have to supervise and matching of time lines - Filipines are 12 hours ahead, India 8.5 - it can get a little crazy. Some disappear when you need them the most - so - communication can take up a lot of time. I've decided to stick with fiverr. It seems to work best for me, at least for now. I want to spend my energy on helping clients and not supervising employees.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I have analysis paralysis...lol. I have found so much information on offline marketing/web design that I don't know where to begin. I know what my strong points are and I know what they are not. I do NOT know how to do the tech stuff that has to be done to create the sites, fanpages, etc. Having one person or a handful of people to trust and use for those jobs would be awesome. I know about vworker, etc... but there are so many to choose from that it would be less daunting task to have one person to send email to, tell them what I need, know what it will cost me, and have it done asap. So getting the "team" is exactly where I am right now. I'll be watching for new ideas and if anyone finds great people to outsource the work to, it would be greatly appreciated!

Get at least one good outsourcer to help with the small stuff that chews up your time. I like your idea of outsourcing to other experts.

One company that I've had good luck with for handling a few of my SEO clients is www.endlessrise.com . Your customer will never know it's not you providing the service. They are a white-label SEO service (they do the work, you get the credit).

There are a couple of points here that I want to touch on.

The first is about outsourcing to the Philippines. Hiring and managing ANY employees, local or foreign, has its complications, but one cannot do everything themselves. The key is to know how to hire. Take a look at this report and see for yourself just how much money will go directly in to your pocket at the end of the day when you learn how to do this.

        http://www.uobim.com/virtual-assistants-personal-employees-direct-save-money/#renan

The second point I want to touch on is about building an offline sales team and offline marketing. If you are willing to sell directly to small business owners and teach others how to replicate what you are doing, selling this product can very quickly generate a 3-4 figure monthly residual income for you. (http://www.small-businesses-marketing.com/video-.php).

I am an Executive Manager Recruitment Specialist and would be happy to talk with anyone seriously interested in a real sales career and the ability to build a 6 figure residual income.

Your service usually have to show professional. It is a good start with a blog and have your own website to sell your service to show your expert in the solution.
Use email blasting to send to all the client that possible . You may meet out a big client.
I believe that your target is not only those people who do not have a website. I'm sure even a business do have a website but they also looking for web design and website maintain.

From my experience jtlucas business owners don't care about SEO and websites.

What they care about is how to communicate with their customers to keep there name in their minds, how to increase profits, productivity, reduce overhead, and how to multiple themselves to be more efficient to gain more free time for themselves.

Once you can talk about their challenges and explain to them how you can alleviate their stress and pain, websites, SEO, Social Media or whatever services you decide are just a tool that you use to accomplish what you promised to do.

IMO you can talk to you're blue in the face about what SEO is and why they need it. But until you hit on their pain, they're not interested.

Before you get your first client, you should consider doing your pilot run either on your own biz, or a friend's. Yes build a campaign, and test out all the services you are offering . Test out your outsource partners, test out your in-hse capability. You may not be an expert but you should have a good grasp of the basics of internet/affiliate marketing. Without that, how are you going to convince/ sell to your client your services. Start small and build up from there as you gain more confidence and testimony.

Business owners really don't want to become expert marketers for the most part, they want to have experts marketing for them. The problem is that there is no limit to how much you can spend on marketing. Business owners want a comprehensive, affordable solution to develop a strong online presence and increase their revenues and profits.
Here is one such solution: http://www.small-businesses-marketing.com/video-.php
And here is the opportunity sales reps and sales managers who get involved have: http://salesandmarketingcareers.net/Managers.php

I have already put together a team and it is all about reliability.

I have been burned so many times in the past so make sure you test before you pass on any real work. You don't want to be left hanging half way through a project. You are the one who will look stupid.

Also, make sure whatever work you are doing for clients will actually bring them results. That will make you more successful quicker than anything else.

In my opinion, building a team is a never-ending process that means you'll always have to interviewing and rotating assignments with different service providers until you find ones that work for you.

I think developing a referral relationship with a competitor is the way to go. You may specialize in one thing and they another. Also, the work they do for you and your clients is usually the best they offer because they don't want to loose the referral source.
