Help, my client wants me to build him an App

Hello All,

I had a second meeting with a potential client today in the Hair salon & spa industry. The meeting was supposed to be about mobile websites, text messaging & PPC campaigns. Well he comes out of the blue and says he wants an App. Of course I told him I could do this for him. He wants me to put a proposal together for him outlining the cost associated with this endeavor.

One problem I have NEVER done this before. I have no clue what to charge or even how to get it done at this point. He wants the app to connect to his website, keep his clients up to date with specials, new products, etc. So the App itself is not going to be complicated, I just have no idea what to charge for something like this. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Go to Odesk or vworker (formerly rentacoder) and see what you come up with. You'll get an idea of cost within 24 hours. Doesn't seem like it would be a difficult app, but it might cost more to have it made for multiple platforms (like iphone, android, etc.) Keep us posted on how it pans out.

Thank you for the direction. He does want to go with App for each platform. I am kinda pressed for time as we are meeting at 1 P.M est on Friday . But I will head over to Odesk and see what I can find out.

      Thanks again,

      Steve

You are under the gun then. You may want to reschedule til after the holiday, just tell him that you are figuring out what is needed from a programming perspective or something like that. He can't expect you to come up with something so fast, and if you explain the technical hurdles I'm sure he will understand. Good luck.

We are meeting tomorrow to not only discuss the App development, but to seal the deal on a yearly contract for Text Messaging, Mobile website, PPC management & Google places set up and maintenance. But I wholeheartedly agree with you, I need more time to get him pricing for the App development.

This was our second meeting in less then two weeks, so I know he wants to go with my services. It is just a matter of him signing on the dotted line and collecting the check . I guess I can always give a seperate proposal for the Apps sometime next week.

      Thanks again,
      Steve
