Can anyone help me figure out a way to monetize this traffic?

A while back, I ranked my site in the first place position for a high-priced product that sells from $2000-$7000K and the average commission is $400. The keyword string I ranked for was getting about 15,000 exact searches per month according the Google Keyword tool. I was also starting to pick up some traffic from a lot of other smaller keyword strings I was targeting.

The problem was that I wasn't seeing any commission from all the traffic I was sending, and after thinking about it, I realized this was because with such a high ticket item, prospects would obviously pick up the phone and just call. I sent an email to the guy in charge of the affiliate program to ask if he had a way to track this so I could get my commissions, and he ignored me, so I removed his links and banners and have since let the site go stagnant.

It has dropped off the front page of Google, but I'm pretty confident I can get it back up to the #1 spot.

I've also found a lady in another company who is willing to work something out where I use her logos and 1-800 number on my site and send people directly. My idea was that I would offer a discount or something free on the site - a deal only her and I had going - and then she would know if a client was sent by me.

She said a 5% discount could be worked out or she could offer an item for free that is often ordered with the product. I'm worried, however, that at this price range, those might be easy forgettable to a client during the buying process.

Is there another way we can do this? i feel like this site can make some money and I don't want to let it continue slipping off the radar. The merchant sounds willing to be flexibile with whatever, but she is a "middleman" as well, so her margins are only so big.

Any tips on a technique for tracking these leads would be much appreciated...

Thanks!
James
