My experience with it (used them for about 2 weeks) wasnt good, but I would imagine it could be if you really worked with the company to train their people on it... you might lose before you gain. Hopefully someone has had good experience with it and can leave a better comment and experience...because that would be a great breakthrough.

I tried using a Philippine appointment setter that I hired from oDesk and she failed miserably.

She had experience and success setting appointments, a great almost American phone voice, and was very knowledgeable about appointment setting over the phone.

But, I agree with John. It could really have been all about training and the time I was willing to spend to make it work.

I had higher expectations and sometimes with those, you tend to think that the person you hire is already up to par on your business.

In retrospect, I think she failed because I failed to invest more in her, by the way of training, etc.

I have learned alot of good things, and a "handfull" of real serious "Keys" to succeeding at a pilot project... one of the most golden lessons I have learned, well thankfully, over the years is "expectations management".

Phillipino's arent good for phone sales. They are too nice and their culture is such that they are more amiable. Indians are much more tenacious and will follow the script to the end. And as a result are much better at phone sales.

you must have found a better outfit then we did. the ones we hired could not sell their way out of a paper bag.

they are decent pre qualifiers tho.

as far as Philippines we had luck just hiring them ourselves,
with that said we prob went through 300 + to find 3 that were any good.

and even tho they are decent now, their phone quality sucks,
      internet quality sucks,
they lose calls all the time. some times they are down for hrs.

      now, india never goes down...

we are presently testing out a service in turkey.

ill let ya know how that goes.

I had a company call me 2 weeks ago to sell seo services and it must have been the worst experience I ever had. I then called the SEO companies head office in Australia and they acknowledged that it is not good and they are trying to improve their phone manner. The issue is culture we are very different in the way we go about approaching business

    Cheers

This is just an opinion but I have been selling for over 15 years and have gotten quite good at it so it might make sense.

In my view, the most important part of setting the appointment is establishing some sort of relationship BEFORE you walk through the door. I think it's important that the prospect hear YOUR VOICE, not someone else's voice.

Obviously once your company grows, hiring people is an option, but in the beginning, I'd say to set those appointments yourself just for the simple fact that the relationship when you go there will already be established.

I guess that depends if you're going for outsourcing to home-based freelancers or actual companies. True there are a lot of problems to be encountered if you're going for home-based people like the phone quality and the Internet connection as per kenmichaels. I suggest, if you're going for Philippines, is to outsource to companies rather than freelancers.

My experience with Filipino's are exceptionally great in contrast to what others say. It just depends on how you chose a contractor and of course if you expect quality service you should not limit your resources. Their English is exceptionally good as compared to other.

No one can easily examine on depending the working ability of one particular services provider. First of all judge all the circumstances and services in appointment settings. Philippines some service provider are may be so better or so worst.

Philippines english is very cool, almost perfect grammatically. I've heard most Koreans come to their country just to study english, and good to hear that philippines is truly helping the south koreans.

I've used several different overseas call centers with mixed results...I now have several U.S. based telemarketers that work for me and I obviously pay them a lot more than an offshore call centers but I've had great success with my U.S. based team - poor communication = poor results!

Both Philippines and U.S. have tons of good telemarketers...just make sure whoever you hire you train them and maybe record calls to make sure they are representing your company the right way, etc. Don't hawk over them and but definitely monitor them.

    Best of luck!
    Ahmad
