Will my strategy work?

Hi,

I have been thinking of moving into the offline market for a while. I have implemented a strategy which I hope a business would rent ad space from me. This would be exclusive, their advert would be the only company on it.

My plan is to build a site get it to #1 of google. Then contact business owners to see if they would like to have an advert on my website. This would be a monthly fee of course.

I have decided to target driving instructors on my first site. They have fresh and repeat customers. There market will never dry up as everyone wants to drive.

My market is the UK. So im only trying to rank for .co.uk Im currently on the top of the 2nd page of google within 48hrs. I think I could get to #1 pretty easily.

Now my site only has a 1000 word peice of text that is highly optimised for my keyword. I have an exact match domain also.

Do you think this business model is effective?

The keyword im targeting actually shows up in keyword tool. It states it has 320 exact searches a month.

Does anyone have any advice on how to approach/contact the instructors?

I have looked at google places but cant find email addresses. I would prefer to email first before I make contact. This would be my first experience and Im very nervous to speak on the phone. I realise you will have to it sometime. Just not yet.

Most driving instructors I've spoken to in the UK, tend to be really reluctant to spend any money on advertising as they generate a LOT of referrals via word of mouth.

I like the concept of the site, but I'm wary of your target market. What sort of advertising spot are you offering them? Is it one per area?

I think you might have better luck with other niches in the UK, but well done on getting things moving and being creative with your ideas. Let us know how it goes

Your problem, as was mine, initially, let's face it, is speaking to people confidently enough to sell them the benefits of your system. If you can think of the benefits yourself, then explain that to them.

Don't ever shy away from the fact that you understand the internet and how to bring these people more business via it. You'll get shrugged shoulders from many, but once in a while you'll hit paydirt, and this is where you'll prosper.

    Good luck.

You both have very valid points. Though I can see some driving instructors who way down on page 7. Im pretty sure they would be happy having their advert placed at #1 of google.

I think I have got the benefits nailed. it works out to be an extra 16k (I hope) lining their pockets. Who wouldnt turn it down

You may be right in targetting instructors. Though they all advertise in the local papers. SO they must be willing to pay some money. I think 320/month searches locally is alot of targeted prospected money in their pockets.

Yeah they would be paying to exclusivly advertise on my site. This is per area. So they would not have competition as such.

If this mdel works. I will branch out to other areas. Target different niches, plumber, sparky etc

You business idea and plan is good but i am doing seo for 1 year and i think your plan of ranking on first page Google will take lot of time. Really it really depends upon the keywords you select, their search volume and competitions. I think you should start implementing your plan to save time to get the number one spot....
