Multiple Facebook Profiles?

Do you guys recommend creating a separate facebook profile just for your business persona?

Take my situation. I am the lead singer in a punk rock band and as such I have loads of punk friends on my facebook and also pics of me out at gigs, singing and getting generally pretty mashed.

Now that I'm running a couple of businesses and getting into local online consultation for business owners who are just stepping into the web world. I'm thinking that I shouldn't be promoting myself in this way to them.

What would you do in my situation?

Oh and for those who are wondering. I've hidden my FB profile from Google and am promoting my linkedin business profile.

I've also created a small bizcard site which I'm looking to take to the top of google for my name. Mainly because now there are two other facebook profiles for other people who have my name!

The outcome I want from all this is that when people google me. My linkedin profile and bizcard site popup at the top spots.

You can create a Fan Page from your personal profile. Then group your friends from your personal page into a list say (friends only) then you can block what they see.

Do this by clicking account tab(top right hand corner)/ then privacy settings.

Might be good if you separate business with personal life. Confident and trust is huge!

I would create a separate Facebook page for your business. I'm just not sure how effective it would be for a consultant. I have seen many large consulting companies with less than 50 fans. LinkedIn seems like a better way to go.
