What keyword tool or method nails it for Local Search

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what has worked best for you guys for local keyword search. Some ppl say use google adword tools and others object saying it does not provide good local search terms. Others state, paid keyword tools are a waist of time for local search.

What is working for you?

    Hi Tara,

    I personally use google adwords tool that gives me a good indication.
    Then I use market samurai to do further research.

    A good way to test you market is with adwords.
    For example:

    Firstly you do not need a website for this.
    Send the traffic to a business that is targetted for your keyword. Do not be concerned about sending traffic to someone you do not know they will be thankful for the traffic and you are testing.

    Set up an adwords campaign
    Target an exact match search
    Pay for position one
    let campaign run for 24 hours or longer if you want.
    now count how many impressions your add received

    Now you have a good idea of how many people a day search for you keyword

      I used Market Samuri to pull out City Dentist, Dentist city built a site around City Dentist. Just about to launch it. I also purchased Dentist City,

      and City Dentist in state.com since City name is in 3 states, will out any additional research.

    The GKT is not very reliable for the low search volume keywords for smaller towns it rarely show many if any results.

    I prefer to used the Google Suggestion tool while it does not show the search numbers it does list the searches that are actually being performed with the most searced for terms first.
