Industries You've had Most Success Selling Mobile Sites To...

Just what the title says - what industries have you had the most success selling mobile websites to? ie - what businesses are most open to getting a mobile site created? We mostly do cold calling, so if you do telemarketing and could list the industries that'd be great.

Thanks!

Personally I haven't sold mobile sites to anyone, but I've been doing a lot research into it as I'm a fairly experienced offline marketer and working on adding mobile to my "skill set".

People have said usually larger clients such as corporations and what not have an extended spending budget to go and actually add mobiel to a front (if you plan on charging a good deal).

Something I know I'm 'targeting' would be dentists. Having things like a mobile app for "check ups" etc...

I do email marketing and I have been contacting businesses in many niches. I had success with two hotels and one cleaning service up to now. But I get interested people in other niches as well. It is really difficult to make a list and say they will be the best to go after. Any business that gets web traffic and whose site doesn't perform well on mobile devices will absolutely need a mobile site. The difficult part is to make them realize that.

Hotels, restaurants, dentists, schools, beauty salons, spas, fitness centers, plumbers, electricians, locksmiths, pizzerias, auto services, florists... If there is a category in Yellow Pages, then that industry will be worth targeting.

It all depends on how the owner values it and this will be a result of your marketing. If you do a good job I believe you can sell a mobile site to anyone in any niche as long as that business owner understands that it will help their business in a way.

There is one more thing I want to mention here. I had a really low response rate from businesses who have a relatively more professional website and who are bigger companies.

Please let us know what works for you when you do some tests.

I'll give you guys an awesome industry for mobile and when you think about it you'll see why.

    Bail Bondsman

Someone gets arrested, they call their family, the family comes down and then searches for bail bondsmen on their mobile phone.

    This is the perfect client.

Yeah, I agree. We have sold a dozen mobile sites to this niche. We're developing a site specifically around this nice now and going after it nationwide.

You know we see this question all the time but really it is the wrong question so quite often you will get the wrong answer.

What you should target is industries that have clients you can get.

So for example we do a lot for Printers and they have a lot of clients to refer to us. Offer them a spotters fee.

Another one is promotion companies as they also have a lot of clients.

Try trade show promoters as they will need mobile sites for their customers.

Shop fitters also have a good list of customers you can tap into.

Internet marketing always says build a list and if you cant build one yourself use some one elses.

The same applies to offline marketing.

From my experience there is not one industry that stands out above others and you shouldn't just limit yourself to one industry. The businesses that convert best are not based on what industry they are in but instead how you go about finding those clients.

Look for businesses that are already spending money to advertise their website. These are businesses using services such as Google Adwords, Groupon type sites, Yellow Pages, etc.

Another clever thing to do is to search for terms such as "order online" location or "make a booking" location to find those local services who are already taking bookings or orders online. If these people do not already have a mobile optimized website then they are missing out on a BIG trick... for obvious reasons.

So spend that little extra time looking for businesses who are more likely to need your services and you will find it much easier to close the deal.
