Get super-targeted leads for FREE...
Whether you're calling yourself, using a telemarketer, doing direct mail, etc. to generate clients, having a targeted list to focus on is crucial.
Although you can find some pretty solid list data for reasonable prices, most of you may already have access to list data for a price that's pretty solid... FREE.
What am I talking about? Your public library. All of the public libraries I've ever been a member of have offered access to ReferenceUSA for free from the comfort of your home computer. The cool thing is just how detailed your search criteria can be.
I recently logged in to ReferenceUSA, and I was amazed at the sorting options... Things like:
-Annual sales
-Number of employees
-Business industries
-Executive titles
-How much is being spent on advertising, accounting, independent contractors, etc. (Pretty cool data)
-Size of the business's yellow page ad
-Whether the business has a website
-Whether an email address is available
-Public/private company
-And of course, the normal stuff like geo searches, etc.
I could name several other fields, but this data is powerful for free. The only limitation is you can only download and/or print 25 records (or one page) at a time. Of course, you can download multiple pages pretty quickly and combine spreadsheets or simply upload them one at a time into your CRM (Highrisehq is one of many CRM's that offer a free version).
Again, if you've got the money, you can get access to all of this stuff without the download limitations, but if you're just getting started and have more time than money, this is a great tool that you may already have access to for FREE, and it's faster than a lot of the tactics for building a call list that I've seen listed occasionally on here.
