Is it legal to forward a virtual number?

Hi,

Im from the UK. I have setup a website that is targetting driving instructors. I have already got it to #3 for driving schools (my town)

Now Im having trouble getting any one to reply to me. I have sent out emails to all the email addresses listed on the instrcutors website.

I have had no response. Though I will try calling also.

My question is I have purchased a virtual number and placing this on my site. I was thinking of forwarding calls made to this to a driving instructor.

Is this legal without their consent? I realise I will be giving them free business but Im going for the puppy dog approach to lure them in.

Why wouldn't you get their consent? You should call them up and say -
"Hey, I made a website...want some free leads? No obligation?"

    They will say yes...

THEN..you can call them back & see if they want to keep the service. If the answer is no, it means that they either can't afford it OR your leads suck. You can yank the number from them and try with another instructor.

They probably just delete your emails assuming that you're a spammer. I also run an offline business & receive about 10 of those kinds of messages a day in HORRIBLE ENGLISH. I just delete -- delete -- delete..

      Hi,

Thanks for your input. I understand what you mean with the emails. Thought I would at least give it a shot.

My business model was to let them brand my website with thier logo etc.

Do you think the lead model would be better?

I was going to let them brand/rent my site for £197/month. The site is getting around 5 hits a day. So they should easily make that back with new students and some

I think that the monthly rental is better for this niche. If it was one where the cost per lead was SUPER HIGH, I'd say no. Test it out & see how it goes...

Agreed, monthly rental is the better business model if you can get it. If nobody is really biting you might want to approach is as $x/mo for three months and then if you didn't generate x number of leads during that time (b/c it sounds like you are easily generating enough leads you would maintain the site until you did reach that agreed upon number. Once that number was reached then renegotiate based upon the results.

Ah I like that play. Im just getting a banner made up now that has a virtual number on it.

Once this is complete I will call the instructors and see if they want some new leads. Think may do this for a week. I can track calls made through this number so they cant bullsh*t me.

Looking forward to making my first call. I feel inspired at the mo. So Im making best use of the motivation

In answer to your questions I would not direct calls to their number without their consent. How will they know that the calls are coming from your diverted virtual number?

Regarding your email - perhaps copy and paste it here in the thread and we can critique it for you (taking out the vital details of course)

The first thing i'd do is put in a virtual number that directs to your own mobile phone. Test it for 2 to 4 weeks weeks to guage how many calls you are getting. You will then be in a much better position to negotiate a monthly rental when you have actual numbers.

        Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Im not going down the email route. Think it was me being a coward. I realise I need to make contact over the phone.

Now I see your point about directing the calls to my phone. Though I wouldnt want to. I cant provide the service the user would be after. My site could potentially be labelled as a scam site and reported.

I think it would be better to direct to a driving instructor. With their consent of course.

I can track the amount of calls the virtual number gets. So in effect its the same thing.

If you make any decent money out of this I will be surprised.

I hope you prove me to be spectacularly wrong. Let me know in a month as that is all the testing you will need and I'll buy you a drink.

          Seriously, good luck to you.

    Ha,

Thanks Jimbo. I think the theory is sound and the system. Though potentially the niche maybe a little poor. Time will tell.

My thinking was Driving instructors always need new clients as once they pass the instructor is no longer needed. Though I also undertsand its word of mouth, as to how they get new custom.

The figures add up though as to why they need me. Just need to secure a meeting and explain my position. I was going to prove I can do what I say by giving them free leads. Thanks for the good luck

Im from leics. Though Im targetting small ish towns. That way I dont have to worry about large areas.

eg. For bham. I would target smaller areas.

So it would be driving schools solihull etc
