Which is Better? Video's with/wo control to fast forward!

Dose anybody have solid data or opinion on which is better?

If you can't fast forward and have no control ...having to watch the entire video- is it a "good user experience"

I hate not having controls, but just purchased a WSO in which the controls are removed and it's supposed to be a good thing.

any feedback is appreciated

When does forcing a person to do anything translate into a "good user experience"?

Personally for me, these type videos are inconvenient. I multi-task a lot and I
WANT the option to control videos I watch. If I don't watch this type vid in the
first sitting, it's almost certain I will not go back to complete the viewing.

Best way to prove it out is to do a "split-test".

I hated it when they took away my ability to fast forward or rewind the video, and there were very few that I persevered with. The last webinar replay that I tried to watch didn't even have a pause button (everytime the phone rang you had to refresh the page to listen to what you had missed!)

.... and to top it off you had no idea how long you were supposed to sit there for

I'm pretty sure that annoying the user so much that they shut off the video after 10 minutes is not a good way to market stuff.

When doing a video sales letter, like Ryan Deiss' format, you'll find a better response to the sales video when it autoplays without controls.

However, beyond the sales letter, I think videos should have controls. Especially when you buy a product and are watching training videos or tutorials I believe users should be able to control the videos however they want.

ryan's sales letter is what 1st pissed me off. he says it's a short video and I have to listen to him drone on and on and on.

I would love to see the #'s that it really works!

Time is money. Whenever I run across Video's with no control's on it I just get out of the page. Close it down and move on!

    • I hate it too.

      split testing is the thing.

also, how about no controls, But
stating in the video how long, what I will cover at the start, in the middle, and the "bottomline" at the end???

show them respect by telling them upfront?

    Put in the controls.

If you give me a video without I will not watch it unless it is something I really want to see and even then I normally will not.

If I arrive on any sales pages where I can't fast forward the video, I leave. Especially ones with no sales letter. No sales letter and no fast forward is a HUGE turn off for me.
