I want to make $x,xxx

Hey WF, I have just gotten started with my offline business and right now my goal is to be making a steady 2k a month, I'm only 19, so that will give me money to get an apartment and make my car payment and have some spending money, so that is my goal right now.

I have walked in and called businesses around my area trying to sell websites, but with no luck. I see all these other people on here selling SEO/SOCIAL MEDIA/ etc packages and bringing in a good chunk of change residually, which is what I want to be doing. I plan on outsourcing all the work I get anyway, I just need a way to bring in some clients, so should I continue trying to sell websites or go for something a little bigger than that?

Any advice is appreciated, I need some help right now.

There was a post on here about a good way to open up a lot of opportunities with these businesses. It was about going around business offering to take a few professional photos for their FB, Twitter, and website and maybe shooting a quick promo video for their Youtube. Charge something cheap just to get in the door, the post said $25 but I would probably charge 30-35 because the post didnt sayy anything about shooting a quick promo video but that can add a few dollars, they should be happy to pay that price. and If by chance they say they dont have twitter, facebook, youtube or a website theres your opportunity to upsell those services.

I think that is a great way for someone who is just starting the business to approach it. I actually plan on mixing this in with my approaches

Offline will be tough for someone your age, businesses owners are getting VERY savvy on where they spend their Internet Marketing dollars. I would suggest taking on a few clients for free and get some recommendations under your belt.

Agreed. I am older and did this to start off too. References and personal recommendations go a long way.

Actually I should specify that I didn't do anything for free, but for barter. I built up references and received some great services in return.

Remember this is a numbers game... plan on talking to 10 business owners just for practice until you get your speech right, and don't get discourage if they are not interested. Just keep your mind on your goal, whatever happens. Every time somebody says "no", you are getting closer to a "yes!".

I respectfully disagree with James, age has nothing to do with it (unless you believe it does). Just make sure you know what you are talking about, and always, ALWAYS, keep your goal in your mind, think about it, LIVE IT in your mind, feel it already accomplished, and when they say no, just focus on your goal accomplished, not on the person saying no. You will get a Yes before you know it. Go for it.

Thanks guys, I might consider the photo shoot approach just to get a few clients, and like the guy said above me, age isn't going to stop me so i'm not worried about that at all.

I just need to work on the selling part and explaining why they need me, which is where I am getting stuck at.

Age better not stop you, I am 15 and have been getting clients for a while now. They look at it as an advantage you know all this and it makes you seem a lot more dedicated than "them old folk" :p

There are SOO many ways to get offline clients, its ridiculous. Most of the people on here a fine getting the clients that are $199-$499. My company goes after companies willing to spend $1500+ month (that's our minimum).

My biggest recommendation is to stick to one method to start getting clients. If you jump around, you'll never fine-tune the method and you'll never really start driving clients to your offer.

I'll give you a freebie. One method that worked great was "Performance-based SEO". Basically, you call companies tell them they don't have to pay until you get the keyword ranked on the first page. You then buy an exact match domain for their keywords and get it ranked quickly.

When we first implemented that method, we had signed 11 contracts in one week - each contract was for $199/mo. once the keyword hit page 1. It took about 10 business days to have the keyword rank.

    Hi Lucas,

Thank you for your great questions. Please do not let age stop you from getting to where you want to go in life. In this day and age we see many young people starting businesses and succeeding.................... Facebook????? and many more.

As to your question about websites, think outside the box a bit. Do a Fanpage on Facebook, or what about setting up a simple blog in a certain niche. Add some content and some pictures. Then before you go to the client add a logo for them.

Yes this will take time, but remember apart from the logo it can leave the site as is, until you have covered that niche.

Do not be greedy on prices, and if in your pitch you explain the site can be updated by them by a few clicks (use wordpress), then you take the fear out of monthly expenses for them.

Best wishes for the future and let us know how you do

As you new for your business so i don't think that business owners do blind trust on you at first. So it's better idea to provide them some discount on work or free of charge in initial stage after once you make a trust with your clients then clients will give you lots of work and you can earn $$ in thousands.
