Any Pointers on Job Board Type Website Development?

I have a meeting in two days with a startup temporary employment agency. They want a database driven website that allows both employers and employees to have certain search functions, profiles, etc.

I am already doing my homework, just want to get as clear of an idea of my expenses before I give a quote. Thought maybe someone on here might have experience with this type of project.

Thanks!

We did one a couple of years ago. Client wanted to match one of the top major city job boards. In looking behind the scenes we could see they were using a proprietary software that starts at $5,000. That was our starting point, to beat that price and give the client something compatible. Of course there is a reason some prefer the proprietary licensing route.

We ended up using a job board software that required a basic install and configuration of Joomla to run. It had the features they wanted (most did not upon closer look). Downside is when the updated releases of the job board software came out or fixed an issue, it required a fresh install of Joomla. If you know it upfront you can factor it into maintenance costs.

You might post a job on one of the outsource sites to get some options and estimated raw costs.

    Good luck.
