Awesome proposal tool

I had a meeting earlier today for a startup employment agency. I was a little nervous because it is a big job, so I wanted to make sure I really knocked it out.

I found a site called bidsketch.com that makes writing and organizing proposals very simple. It is kind of a "fill in the blanks" type software, and it helped me organize my thoughts in a much clearer manner. I was actually complimented by my prospect on the proposal

I signed up on a 14 day trial - but the price is only like $9 afterwards and I think I'm going to keep the subscription. I found it useful and thought some of you guys might have a need for something like this in your business.

No, I'm not associated or affiliated with this company in any way - just think it is a powerful and affordable tool for those looking to improve their sales process.

    Cherry_b,

At what part of the sales process or you using the proposal? Are you preparing it before the first meeting, during the meeting, or after you've had a few appts with them? I'm just wondering how you know what all to put in the proposal if you haven't met with them yet?

For my meeting today the prospect had sent a short outline of what they needed - obviously making it much easier. In the future I will likely carry a mock copy with some info in it and some to be written in by hand during the meeting.

One of the things using the software really helped me do was organize the flow of the project - and for the client be able to show how the process would go and what the cost for each part was.

Rather than going in and saying "yea we can do this and get you this much business and it's going to cost this, yada yada yada" - working through the proposal help me get a feel for what my costs would be, and conversely allowing me to create the profit margin I want.

I broke the project into 1) Discovery & planning 2) Front-end design 3) development and programming and 4) testing and delivery. I really think that somebody who is about to drop a nice chunk of change will appreciate the time you took and the organization you have so that they feel they are making a more sound investment.

I'm curious to know how you, and others, carry out meetings with prospects. I am dead set at this point to do as little "winging" as possible. I am also dead set against taking on headache clients. Presenting myself in a more professional, organized manner should help me reach towards these goals imo.

We talk on these forums all the time about how to get leads, sell services, the next big thing, etc. But I do not see enough info about the little nuts and bolts that really have a big impact on success.

I know from experience the massive headaches that come with poor organization and the "winging it" mentality. I seriously doubt, no I know, that anyone highly successful in this business is not winging it!

If you pm me I would be happy to send a copy of the proposal for you to glance at.

Thanks for this share. I went to the site and checked it out and I like the way it saves them so I can reuse them as a template for the next one.

yeah I have word and publisher, etc. but this seems like it is going to help me organize my thoughts better.
