A potential customer has a great website and they need a mobile version of it.

Two pieces of that regular site make me a little nervous - they have a zip search piece on there that allows visitors to find a location and a member piece where they can log in and pay their bill and check out other points on their account.

Can that stuff be moved over to the mobile site successfully if that's what the customer wants?

I know that's probably really vague - ask whatever questions would help you answer the right way.

thanks a bunch!

if your not very technical then i would recommend getting someone experienced to help you

do you know how the site has been coded? ie has it been created using php/mysql? is it using a CMS of any kind ie Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla?

do you happen to know if any the zip search is using google maps?

personally i would NOT "copy or re-develop" those areas unless the client was willing to pay extra for it! The cheaper quick way of making those parts mobile friendly would be to use a mobile detection script and a conditional statement that switches out the style sheets and makes it mobile ready when a mobile device is detected - overall though it really depends on how the site was originally created whether or not it is going to be a walk in the park or an absolute train wreck! lol

hth and good luck - pm if you want me to take a look at it for you

    cheers

Does your client have lots of locations? I mean, more than 10-15?
What i would do is an drop down menu with the locations and link to separate pages for each location, with Tap to call button, Google Maps. Remember to build the mobile website for the thumb and from an mobile used point of view.
I haven't worked with php/mysql but i could help you using html.

Let me know if you need any help at all regarding mobile websites.Just shoot me an email/pm

thank you guys! really appreciate your input!

I am hoping to set up a meeting with the potential customer next week and and see what exactly they want. I was so excited that they called me back (I know ... total newbie!!) that I started looking more closely at the site to see what I could expect.

I don't have enough posts yet to PM anyone - if you guys wouldn't mind shooting me your email addresses in a PM, I'd sure appreciate it.
