Thank You WF..Got My First Offline Client..yay..BUT I Have a Question!!

Got my first Offline Client today from a Car Removalist who got rid of my car a few weeks ago, and I'm really excited about it. Basically while he was hooking up the car I just chatted with him about business and how he was doing. He said he would love to be busier and because I got him through the newspaper I asked him if he advertises any other way.
Now he said he does'nt and because I know that to advertise in the newspapers that he does it's definitely not cheap, so I asked if he had a website.

His answer "No, but I'd like to get one because he knows one of his competitors that does have a website has 3 removal trucks and are always flat out". BOOM!! So I said to him that I build websites and am internet marketer, and would like to do business with him. So I got his number and called him again today and I'm having a meeting with him in a couple of days to discuss our gameplan. Now I want to build him a site with Wordpress and then hopefully sell him on SEO with a recurring monthly bill.
Most of the work I will look to outsource here on the forum or with Elance or ODesk.

Now before I ask my question I just wanna say "THANK YOU" to the Warrior Forum members for the awesome knowledge that I've learnt here. I know it's only the beginning but I've gained so much knowledge and confidence from reading the threads, case studies and WSO"s, and not to mention my questions that get answered all the time.

Ok so my question is about the domain name. Now I won't give the exact business name but say my clients business name is AAAT Car Removals, would you buy the exact business domain name or because I want it to have a better ranking, would I purchase something like "mycity-carremovals" instead and still have the business name as the main header and title?? Because I'm worried if I buy say "AAATCarremovals.com" that it would be harder to rank. I guess because I'm new to this and SEO, I'm not as confident of ranking it on the first page locally. Any thoughts?? Thanks.

Steve

    Hi Steve and congrats.

I would register a domain name like carremovalsoakland.com or whatever.

I would then install wordpress and just get the theme and then add his content.

Add a customized mobile website and thats it.

Give me your price and I will do it all for you. I normally work on a 60/40 basis.

Hey Steve - congrats on your success there!

In regards to the domain name, do some research to see if people are searching for local car removal companies and what terms they're searching for. Getting an exact match domain name should help with SEO, but I'd also probably get a domain name with their company name in it and maybe use it on their business cards or some other way. You can figure out what to do with it later, but I'd get it now so you have it just in case.

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Congrats on taking action!

I'd recommend registering two domain names -> businessname.com for business cards and printed materials (easy to remember)

and then have that domain do a 301 redirect to -> citycarremoval.com or whatever (for SEO ranking and organic traffic generation)

    Cheers,

    ~Dexx

PS - Keep taking action and sharing your success stories!

      Hi Steve,

Congratulations on landing your client. Looks very promising... As for the domain name, for branding purposes as well as SEO, I'd suggest trying to use the company name as well as the main keyword that you're trying to rank for.

Try seeing the search results using Google Keyword Tool. Find a keyword that is fairly easy to rank for (300,000 or less) and use that as the main keyword.

Of course in your meeting you'll be able to find out what they want. But def. having a niche kw in the domain (plus the area) will help ITO SEO. For example AAT-carremovaltexas.com. But if you can't do that because the your kw are too long, definately build sub pages with the keywords for ranking purposes.

The question if you know how toread properly was which domain name should I get "which would help me with my clients SEO rankings", the business name or a city+main keyword. Pleeeassee..I if your not going to say something positive don't comment on the thread. IDIOT!! p.s from your post "how about you explain him that it is his best interest to choose domain with keyword"?????You explain to me what that means??Clueless??

Some people may be good at selling, some at designing, some at article writing, some at video creation.
If you would sell an website and outsource it can you be called totally clueless?

Maybe most world millionaires shouldn't followed their ideas and dreams from the beginning, when they first started, because they were clueless right?

Instead of judging people you may want to take some action and share your experience in the offline world, or at least support the man who's really excited about his success.

Congratulations Steve and keep it going no matter what some might say. Follow the path you started.

Give the warrior some credit man instead of make fun of him. At least he took some action and actually got his first client. Some will see this thread and never take any action. Congrats to you man.

Not really making fun of him...just honest question. If you can't decide on domain, how do you choose the guy or girl who will do SEO? Plus because of those experts selling SEO, we get the rep for it...and then you can try to sell them anything.

    Well Done Steve...!

As a couple of other fellow warriors have mentioned above, go with 2 domains. One being "BusinessName.com" - which redirects to the second domain which you purchase for SEO purposes - "citycarremovals.com".

Best practice would be to do preliminary keyword research before you purchase the domain. Find out which relevant keyword term has the highest search volume per month using Google's Keyword Tool. That could be "city car removal", "car removal city" or any other variation. Then you can purchase the domain which has the greatest search volume in the market.

Remember, preparation is key when it comes to sitting down with clients and closing a deal. If your goal is to sign them up to monthly payments, just make sure your highlighting the possible benefits of this for the business owner. I could talk all day about how to do this, but the important thing is your confident in the value you and your skill base add.

    Well Done Again!

Let me explain this to you, if you haven't built any sites and have no experience/confidence...maybe you should go and get some experience with your own site. I would never go out and sell something I am not 100% confident. How can I take someone elses money and not know what I am doing exactly?

Steve, if you find that you're good at talking to people and reeling them in as clients, you can always outsource the actual work, which will give you more time to go and get more clients. I've met many super successful business owners in the fields related to IT who are absolutely clueless about the tech stuff. They delegate / outsource and that gives them the time to focus on growing their business and ultimately their paycheck. The power of leverage, y'know.

Congratulations on your first success & here's to many more!

Congrats for the new business you got buddy. My suggestion is that you should choose a domain name which includes you primary and secondary keywords like carremocal.com or carremoval-service.com

Contrats, yea the simple answer is to just buy both.

Buy the Geo Keyword Rich Domain Name... AND buy the exact business name domain name.

Geo Keyword Rich = http://CityStateKeyword.com (or some other variation)

Make sure you understand which keyword will benefit your client the most.
(in terms of traffic & search engine visibility)

Put the exact business name domain on business cards and other offline marketing materials.....just point/redirect the exact business name domain to the website you create for your customer.

I'm really glad to hear that you have started in your Offline Internet Marketing endeavors.....

    (warning...constructive criticism ahead)
The only issue that I see in your approach this far, is that you need to discuss Google Places.
If you are focusing on SEO for your client - you need to make sure that you have a solid understanding of how to rank your client for Google Places....because depending on the competition of your clients industry in your city....Google Places Listings will more than likely be dominating the main SERPS for your client's local keywords.

Successfully Optimizing your client for Google Places...will more than likely become your PRIMARY service.

If you have any question on Google Places - Just PM me.

Ok thanks guys for your help. I'll definitely get both domains. As far as Google Places is concerned though, that's what I'm mainly working on at the moment, I've been calling and trying to get leads for Google Places listings and then hopefully upselling other services from there, web design, SEO, Social Media etc. I only got this client because he was doing a job for me at the time and we started chatting about it. Thanks again for your comments!!

congrats! I have to agree with some of you guys... by the domain with the business name and by the domain of the main keyword... ex: carremovalcalifornia.com etc.. use the main domain to redirect to the keyword site..the domain with the keyword is going to help your site ranking... also talk to him about social media advertising, in the latest google algorithm change facebook pages are ranking pretty high.. in my website, my facebook page comes up in top 3 results of 6 keywords.. and my main site appears just a couple of stops below.. keep us post it on how it goes!
