Offline clients will open your email when you use this...

Here is just a quick share.

It's something you can use to attract clients from scraped or purchased lists.

I'm not a fan of random email blasts, but I just tried one for the heck of it.

Wasn't really trying to sell, it was more of a test for a future campaign.

The subject line is used was:
"[name], other [insert profession] in [insert city] don't want you to see this..."

so for example

"Jake, other dentists in Houston don't want you to see this..."

You can expect quite a good open rate with this.

Of course, the sample list I had came with first names.

You may wanna try this out. Let me know how it goes!

Curiosity and Fear of loss...a good proven combo

Just make sure you immediately follow that up with some powerful hooks if you don't want them clicking away from your email right after opening it!

So what was your open rate. Have you got any figures on how successful your campaign was?

As I said, it was just a test.

I don't know the exact open rate. That's not what I was tracking. Besides, I sent the email using Yahoo by connecting an address from one of my domains.

However, I placed a link to a non-indexed page inside the email.

Then I checked my stats to see how many people visited the page. I also checked the referrer to make sure they were coming from an email provider.

Without releasing figures at this point (it won't be the same for everyone anyway), let's just say it worked.

You can use this to sell a site you have already created for a professional in your area.

Just in case you're wondering, I just wanted to know if people were interested, before I went ahead with all the work.

Well if you say it works I'll take your word for it, but if I were the "dentist" I would click delete because it seems too "hypy"

      Two things:

      1. There is nothing "hypy" about it.

You know what it is, a dentists doesn't. I bet that if you got an email that said

"Vincenzo, other marketers in [insert your neghbourhood, or street name] don't want you to see this..."

You'd open it, if not only to find out how they got to know where you live. Of course, it would have to be that specific for you, because you're immune to "hype"

      2. It doesn't matter.

When my package goes out, I will only need less than 1 out of 100 to make a profit.

Hype or no hype, that's a good subject line.

I sent to only one trade.

You can use Thunderbird add on for Firefox.

If you're worried about your ISP (they tend to frown on email blasts), since you are in the UK, you can get a 3 sim card. Then connect to the internet via a dongle or a mobile. You can get about 2GB of bandwith for £5.

I think GetResponse doesn't require double opt-in (at least they didn't in the past) so if you want a more 'legit' way you can use that.

In my case, I won't be going with email once the sites are ready.

    I prefer direct mail.

Come on, nothing hypy? Something that your competitors don't want you to see? It's straight out of the "classics" book on advertising. But that's good because historically it's worked great. But I believe we are in an anti-advertising age where many might scoff at this line.

It's not that I wouldn't be curious IF I didn't believe to was a marketing ploy like I would.

I'd offer: An Important Notice to Houston Dentists...

It's a curiosity title that all Dentist must open, none will delete this like the former.

But neither of us are right if we don't TEST them. The truth will reveal itself.

Hahaha... the fact that it's a classic doesn't make it hypy. You and I are marketers, our "m-radars" are much better calibrated. (not necessarily more sensitive)

In any case, you're right, only a test can tell.

In addition, I just wanted to see if the offer would get anyone to click through.

The real package will be a mailing.

Thanks for the suggestion though... "Important notice..." sounds good.
