I would price it a tad higher, maybe $750?

That is what I would do, but listened to the more experienced folks around here.

I wouldn't undersell yourself I'm not sure how long you have been doing this but I have found that charging more is sometimes an easier close than trying to come in just right. What I mean by this is that the perceived value by the potential client is what is important. It is also a good mindset to be in for future clients. Those clients that are worried about getting the best deal more likely than not are those clients that can be a pain to deal with.

For template design I would charge $200 per page and to make it mobile design would be $50 per page addition. Meaning if your taking the design and making it optimized for mobile phones.

    Aloha,
    Fred

Thanks, I didn't think of charging per page just a website as a whole.

I think you are significantly under-charging here. There is a HUGE difference between building a "website" and building an effective website that converts prospects into new customers.

Think about the work that is involved to create an effective website:
-Research to understand the language of their market
    -Meetings with the client
    -Designing a prototype
    -Crafting specific calls to action
-The physical design of the website
    -Copywriting for the website pages
-The addition of meta tags to the website
-Marketing the website and building backlinks to it
-Measuring the traffic levels to the website and testing the website to see what gets prospects to call the restaurant

A lot of web designers charge too little for their services. A lot of them will charge $500-800 for a standard website that looks OK but does not help them generate much additional business.

There's a lot more than what meets the surface in creating an effective website. That's why I think you are under-charging here.

Also, think about the value that you can bring to the business owners that you are talking to. How many new customers do you think that they can get from this kind of a website? What's in it for them? What kind of an ROI can you get for them?

    I hope that this helps.

As most have said, it depends on what you are promising them. A couple of things I have learned in the past few months of doing this:

      1) Are you delivering a site only and they provide all of the content? The more you do on the side of content the more you should charge.
      2) Does this include solid SEO? This can be very tough to provide good results when restaurants are very, very competitive. This is an extremely crowed space. They do need good SEO, but this is a hard market to be in. So be careful of what you promise on this end.
      3) Restaurants make a low margin. Not like selling to Doctors where the average customer spends a ton of money. You are talking just a few dollars here and there. Texting moves the needle for these folks much more than a website. Bottom line, if it is a new business, you have a better chance at getting more from them.
      4) I would charge at least $1k, regardless. Web site design is not just build and forget it. It takes time to get it right even when it is delivered.

      Good luck!

        Thanks guys,

I am unsure if I want to have SEO has a service because I imagine it is a lot of work if I am working on many clients at once.

To me, based on what I have quoted it's too low. It's really two sites, if you think about it. I would be double that or at least $800+. It's also hard to get much for addon work if your original fee was so low, imo.

It depends on how much your client will benefit from the site. If that site can bring them many times more than $600 worth of clients, then yes, that is a very good price.
