the disappearing Google Place reviews?

I just had the same thing happen to my reviews for my business earlier this week. I had seven reviews they all disappeared but one. The next day 5 of them reappeared but it seems that 2 of them may be gone for good. These were all honest reviews, nothing coached or anything like that. I also fell one spot the same day they disappeared in my google places but they put me back where I was when the five reviews were brought back.

Could be that Google is not pulling reviews from that site anymore, could be that Google felt the review was biased or spammy, etc. Google Places seems to be constantly tweaking itself to find the best user experience.

That was my initial reaction but the reviews were quite old, like over a year. I'm thinking that they are indeed experimenting with this niche/location because not only are the reviews coming and going but the sources that they are pulling reviews is changing as well...

It's days like this that make me question offering Place optimizations as a service.

Have had exactly the same thing happen. Some disappear for good, others for awhile and then come back. One client called me recently to tell me they were back, and by the time I checked some were gone again.

Honestly, I find GPlaces the most confusing and unreliable online resource yet....plus it can be 'gamed' by disreputable competitors all day long.

Hey gang, i have over a 100 clients and it happened to all of them. the good news it happened to the competitors too. most have bounced back now. it's just google places updating their index and messing around with stuff. it might be to support G+. don't sweat it too much.
