Anyone else notice their local videos ranking lower?

I've had a number of videos ranked at the top or near the top of page 1 for 3 different clients, in different midsized cities and or niches. I used the normal methods; optimizing the video information for each keywords and using backlinking from my favorite fiverr gigs. These weren't low searched keywords, they were for main keywords like: citybusinesstype. Some were ranked above the google places listings. These videos have stayed ranked highly for 4-6 months or longer so they weren't just short term rankings.

A few weeks ago I noticed that all of them have dropped to page either to the bottom of page 1 or to page 2 or 3.

Since they were sticking I didn't do much maintenance, but did add a few links here and there but not much more so I probably got a little lazy.

In the last few weeks I've done various forms of backlinking to try to get them ranked the way there were but none of them seem to be raising in the rankings.

Has anyone noticed this trend with their videos dropping on rankings or once they drop having a hard time getting them to move up again?

I'm wondering if almighty g**gle may have devalued videos in some of thier recent changes.

Thanks, Ron

    Hi Ron

I have noticed the same, I had videos ranked on page one with little maintenance, and then they dropped about 1 month ago

      Interesting Phil,

Have you tried anything to get them to move back up?

        Hi Ron

I have not tried any further linking. The videos were pretty awful anyway.

I havent seen any issues with mine. But then again, I target low competing local search terms and dont need to do backlinking to get them to rank.

It might just be that the search terms you guys are selecting are very competitive and others are doing more backlinking then you and naturally you will fall in rankings.

In that case, either do more or find low competing search terms.

      Hi Doc,

I would agree but since these videos were for 3 different businesesses in two different cities and two different markets and ranked for multiple terms and they all seemed to drop off about the same time, makes me think there may be more going on.

By the way I got your WSO and it's great but not getting any calls on the lower competitive terms I'm ranking for.

Can you give some more information as to the number and type of backlinks you've been building?

I don't have any videos ranking in google, but this sort of think is very common with small niche sites at the moment.

I have noticed the same. At the same time it seems like there are less listings showing the image of the video as well. Have you noticed that at all?

Yes I did notice that not as many thumbnails are showing either. Video marketing was a great service to offer. Now I'm not sure if I can produce the same results as I have been getting in the past.
