How do you get clients into Google Places?

I'm running into 2 problems trying to get my clients into Google places, and I'm wondering if anyone here has any insight.

Problem #1. Multiple accounts (1 for each client)

It's my understanding that the best practice is to have each client under a different google account, but I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Do I use my own accounts, or have my client's make one?

In other words, should I be using:

client1@mycompany.com
client2@mycompany.com
client3@mycompany.com

OR

client1@gmail.com
client2@gmail.com
client3@gmail.com

OR

fred@fredsbakery.com
bob@bobthedentist.com
jim@jimsautorepair.com

Problem #2: Verification

How should we go about verifying the listings? Is there a way for me to verify, or do I just need to let my clients know that they're going to be getting a postcard/phone call from google?

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks

    Hi Scott,

I believe that you should be setting up the accounts in your clients name with a gmail account. When you open the gmail account, coordinate with the client in advance so there will be someone there to either answer the phone or get the text message. Otherwise, they'll have to wait for the postcard and that will take longer.

    Hope this helps.

I agree - any time I have to open a client account I use gmail. Since we're doing the work, we are the only ones to have access to the account until it's time to turn it over to the client.

Wot, you don't have a expert outsourcer sorting this
    out for you?

    Very interesting indeed!

    All the best,

hi ogle places . you can add clients business to google places. you have to use KML file for multiple location. If you want to get first five location in google then you have to work little harder...

Use the Gmail accounts and when they pay you hand them over. If there is a listing already then fix it up, otherwise create a new one. Verification is a pain to be sure. I usually call the client and prepare them for the call. Postcards always seem to get lost.

As far as outsourcing if you want to go that route use ubl.org. While more than a traditional offshore contractor they offer a long list of services and for the $99 tier will do the verification for you. Mark the service up to $600~$700 and you have a nice profit and a satisfied client.

    Hey,

In the past couple of weeks I've had to have postcards sent to clients for verification and both postcards arrived within five days. I thought that was fast!

What my company does is we make a new Google, Yahoo, or Bing account for each client and we just use theircompanyname(at)gmail.com and such. Verification by phone is the absolute fastest way also most convenient because once you get it verified, you can start submitting more and more information. Also it is good to have other online citations from local search directories pointing to your Google Yahoo or Bing Places/Local page. PM me if you need any more info on this topic.
