Land UNLIMITED Offline clients with these two simple questions!!(MY PHONE SCRIPT)

Heya!!

Thought I'd share my current phone script from my wso that is doing very well for me for landing SMS clients via restaurants. Enjoy!

P.S I find it pretty easy to get passed the gatekeeper simply with a stern, "I need to speak with the manager/owner" line.

Yea this is billy ownerdude, may I help you?
Hey what's up, how are you? (cooool, what about you?)
Good, Im doing great thanks! My name is Arron, im calling from (your company name) out of (your city) and I was just hoping you had a second for me to ask you one quick question? (One question? No problem, Go ahead buddy)
Awesome! okay, What do you think it would do for your sales if you had the ability to send special promotional offers that only lasts 24 hours straight to your customers cell phones every single week?
(Whoo, that sounds like a great idea!)
This is what I do for local restaurants just like yours! SMS marketing is the freshest and most effective way to market to your customer base and experience an unusual increase in sales every time we send out one message. Don't you think this would be a good addition to your current marketing efforts?

It all flows for me after that, it's not any magical copyrighting in here but it works for me and the owners are very much less defensive since I've started using this script. Hope this helps some of you out there, try it out.

Do you try to sell the product on the phone at all? Take questions etc? Or do you just try to set the appointment?

I am in the process of starting a local SMS marketing company, and I am looking to brainstorm with other people in the industry.

After the script above, I just try to get an email from them and tell them I'll send them some information and follow up with them in a couple days. I write a great email giving them benefits, examples, what they should expect and I include the pricing at the bottom and again tell them I will follow up in a couple days to see what they think and maybe we could set up a meeting.

Seriously more than HALF of the clients I land email me back with their paypal payment, no meeting or anything.

      Thanks.

      Thanks for sharing:

I'm just starting out here in SoCal.

Curious - if you do not mind me asking - what do you charge?

I've seen models as low as $79/month and as high as several hundred.

Of course, initially, one can charge based upon value, but I believe, its not hard for the owner to google SMS marketing and find a bunch of $50/month plans.

Way back when, I sold dramtic cost cutting technology to banks, and while the initial stages of the sale were all about how much they would save - payback was measured in months - pretty soon the conversation moved on to what about these other guys offering very similar products/services?

Curious how you handle these scenarios.

Kudos to you for getting the payment without a meeting.

Thanks everyone, im glad you could take something from this!
About what I charge, I've been sticking with $235 set up and $250 per month, I didnt spend much time researching how to do sms and stuff, I actually just found out about being able to do this for businesses like 2 months ago, I spent most my time just calling and practicing what phone scripts worked the best, went through about 8 different scripts until I stuck with this one. 13 restaurants landed in my first month, 4 landed second months, im starting to slow down now, I've got a lot of stuff going on at once, it's insane!!

Your right! And that is the role i took since I first started cold calling and pushing sms through the door first and they love it so much it's easy to upsell different services and business ventures.

    Arron,

Good on you man! well done. i'm just getting into SMS marketing also. First of all thanks for sharing the info. I have a few follow up questions that clear up things a little more and perhaps help others also.

    - How are you fulfilling your service? which provider are you using?
    - Out of the first few clients you closed...how many people have opted in the restaurants sms list?
    - Are you helping with the marketing materials for the restaurants...so people know how to opt in to their sms marketing campain?
    - What kind of feedback have you heard from your first few restaurants you signed up? ( good, bad, indifferent )

    Thanks,

    Keep it up!

Good questions! Check TXT180 out, I've been really happy with them so far, may change in the future when I get time to land some more clients. Compare TXT180 - Mobile SMS Marketing Solutions

I actually managed to start upselling the 'extra' services such as providing marketing material which was a measly upsell of 99 bucks. But all I had to do was buy was a small plastic flyer holder and print out a simple little flyer for the to put up in the front of the rest. And I also included a quick training session to their hostesses on how to get everyone who walks in to sign up for the sms list. I get the owner to agree on offering custos who walk in, free drinks on their meal if they sign up for the text list.

          @ Bennette

I cant answer for Arron, but I for one can see text messaging marketing threads all around me, and something may not strike me as a brilliant idea... Its when I see a "turn of phrase" that I know will shock people and effect them that I get excited about something... When you see how something could "sell" easily, then its like "Okay, NOW this is a good idea".

Doesnt matter what knowledge is being shared, the key that makes something sell or not is the "pitch".

This guy's pitch is something you could scale out and teach simple average people to say...and no matter who you say it to, its gonna hit them hard...

Peoples inward dialogue is ALREADY saying "Everyone is constantly on a cell phone these days...". Their own personal experience of looking around the world confirms to them that people even surf the internet on cell phones almost more than they do computers, and their cell phones are ALWAYS with them.

Anyway, having tested lots of different scripts on lots of different little pilot groups...and different products... I know that a million dollars in sales is made by the right "turn of phrase", one that can be effective for an average person...So, sometimes a small paragraph like the one above, can open my eyes to a picture, that a 100 page report couldnt show me the potential of...

          Now to your point:

For me personally, I dont need to see his customers ROI, because its very easy to see, as one who has worked with retail clients alot, how a spike one day per week could easily create $3-500 or more... and so $235, to do that 4 times per month is a steal. If sending out a great message to 2,000 customers sent 21 through your door in a 24 hour period, and your average ticket was $20.... then you profit by $1200 -$1400 per month roughly on a $235 investment.

A retail store owner is use to profiting on much slimmer margins than that. For a business owner this would make alot of sense, and when I spoke to my friend, it DID make alot of sense to him.

Ps. I dont even know Arron... But I know what he is saying makes alot of sense, and I did order his last WSO yesterday as a result of this post... and even if he doesnt "do" these things, which I believe he does... His stuff is very workable from my standpoint and I have tried some of the ideas he presents with different groups... and they absolutely work. In a call center, you always have little groups here and there piloting different programs to decide whats worthy of rolling out on the main floor... This guy "gets it'.

Just wanted to say this isnt a fanboy thing because this is the first time I think I have ever even posted on the same thread as Arron or even knew of him, but this approach makes alot of sense.

So, you get one TXT180 account ($17.95/mo) for each new customer/client you get?
Or, you just get one acct and just buy more "keywords" for each new customer/client?

So buying a new keyword for each client under the same account then we get charged another $17/mo that comes with 1000 texts correct? So each keyword then comes with 1000 texts then so if I have 10 clients then it would be 10 keywords which would cost me $170/month...is that correct?

Isn't it $40 more per 1,000 messages after the first customer?

Why not set up new accounts for each client?

yes seen that myself seems backwards to me as well just set up another account whne you factor in the cost
                5.00 per key word
                1000 additional messages 40.00

                total 45.00
                New account 17.95

                unless I am missing something?

I believe that those 40.00 for 1000 messages don't expire and are rollover minutes whereas the 17 per month for 1000 do expire. If you had a new account that only had 50 or 100 subscribers in first month and you sent out one message then it would be cheaper to use the minutes that don't expire and then you'd still have 900 messages you can use in future. That is how I am understanding it.

Super. I'm just getting started in offline, building my site as we speak and developing my action plan.

I need some concise what-is, how-to, and ready-made options I can implement; 'cuz the cubical scene is wearing on my bad, bro. I want to call my boss and tell him "I'm quitting.....now." Make him scramble to replace me

wow..I can't believe how de-tuned some business owners are to the question:

"What would it do to your sales if you were able to send special promotional offers...etc.,etc..."

Because out of the 20 calls I made today, 18 said "not interested", 1 said "I don't need a new text plan" and hung up, while the last 1 said "I do that now from my PC, so I don't need your service"...and before I could ask them "How's that going for you?"...she hung up!

ON A SIDE NOTE...one of the people I called, who eventually said "no", then said "please take me off your DNC list", to which I said "I found you on Google"...the next thing I heard was a "dial tone"...

May have to put up an ad on CL and see if I can get someone who is open to 100% commission sales and have them make the calls for me!

P in mind that only after 99 rejections will I get my first yes. Let's see how it all goes. Lots of testing being done so I can deliver true value.

Thanks again to all who share awesome info such as in this thread.

VALUE PROPOSITION !!! great job! Hit points of concern right away. By the way... you're building simple mobile websites micro sites and landing pages and putting short urls into their text message campaigns right?

I hope so --- extending the value of a text message onto a mobile site is soo awesome. ITs great for customers and business owners. Customers can see photos, videos, fill out opt in campaigns like email newsletters, sign up for raffles, compete in contests etc.

SMS is the first step! Businesses loveeeee this --- owners get analytics reports and everything! Alllll of our restaurant clients with SMS marketing are doing it. Get your customers going.

There are a couple website builders out there right now -- ours is a good place to start

How many restaurants are you callung a day? Are these just local restaurants with 1-2 locations, nothing like a national chain correct? So your local pizza, sushi, steak, seafood type restaurants? How are you picking which restaurants to call?

I dial 100 numbers a day. Which takes me a little bit longer than an hour. Just local restaurants but there are chain restaurants that are local owned like dominos and such. But I focus mainly on the ones that I know are local.

        Hi Arron,

        Great thread.

I'd like to get my english speaking VA on board with this and was wondering about your call rate.

When you say said you made 100 dials/HOUR - was that correct?

I can barely even call 1 new number, then wait for then to answer, then ask for the manager - let alone speak with anyone in less than 3 minutes.

I'd really like to know, what is a reasonable number of calls to expect per hour using your simple script?

        Thanks

        Rob

I have currently make about 400 lists of potential clients that i would want to try an offer them SMS and mobile Advertisement.

Rolltide, I would say about 3-4 interested people per day outta 100 called, where I would send me email to them and see what happens.

Up until I landed this final script to stick with I would MAYBE get 1 interested out of 100.

For anyone providing this type of service.

If you get your own whitelabel SMS service and sign up a client. Once you have them signed up and set them up, does the client send the txt messages out themselves or do you need to do it for them? How much is your involvement each month?

    Lol.

I remember being in your position once, people saying "Write it, write it...".

Seriously though this is an exciting and believable business model...

So I called my friend David last night, who owns a retail store... and I said:

"...I know about a service that would blow your mind...Would you mind if I ask you one question..."?

    "Sure", he says.

What would it do for your business if you could send out a special promotion to thousands of customers cell phones any day or time of the week... and create an immediate spike in sales anytime you want to... ?

I could see this set him back and hit him hard... He said "Well... THAT would be one heck of an interesting proposition...".

So anyway, I didnt go on and sell him, I went on to talk to him about the business model you have here... Truly nice, crispy clean, easy peasy... This is a doable model, and I think you have your prices set right where they need to be.

    WRITE IT MAN!

No problem! If you need help along the way with something, come back in here and I'll try to get you through it!!

Read this before you start calling..

Always remember that when we find someone that has an 'interested' sounding response, this instantly puts you in the power position. Business owners who are really interested in expanding their business and increasing their profits through effective marketing have NO idea HOW to do it. So when they find someone who has a company dedicated to doing exactly that, they will be the submissive ones on the phone because they will expect YOU to take charge and have control of the conversation.

Hows it coming Arron? Im ready to make some money with this. I think I could build a business model around this service that would fly bigtime.

I feel that the only objection a business owner could have would be "Where do the cell numbers come from", now, upon learning that they have to develop their own list, it may look like an uphill climb for them... with no immediate gratification.

How do you get around that?

Great questions John. This is where I would explain the best option for them to develop a list quickly from offering an incentive to join the list, which can either be free drinks, free desert, or some other 'free' stuff' that is a win-win for both of us. (hint lol)

I have had some clients build a list of 200 in two days, just from offering a 5% off the customers bill if they signed up. If the owner trains their employees to actively ask the customers to sign up and offers them an incentive to do so, it's almost a positive that they will have at least 100 signups in a week, depending on how big the businesses are. I have seen 700 in the first week with a certain niche that I dont really want to leak yet.

how many calls did you make? I usually find that you will have much success in cold calling if you make A LOT of calls - I am talking about at least 100 calls per day (minimum 50). Track all the calls that you make and track what happens so that you can refer to it, follow up and call back. This will work on either excel or a CRM (customer relations management system). (like salesforce.com). It is not that expensive. Hope this helps!

    Thanks Arron, another question

At first, since all people use cell phones, and all people eat.... Couldnt one just somehow purchase a safe list at first as well and wouldnt it still create somewhat of a spike, if one sent a message to 2,000 eaters with cell phones in a local area?

Understandable it wouldnt convert as well as their own customer base but... I think its a good question worth considering... I find its easier to ask someone to walk ten miles with you, if you ask one mile at a time... So its important to make the first mile easy and not uphill.

Understandable it wouldnt convert as well as their own customer base but... I think its a good question worth considering... I find its easier to ask someone to walk ten miles with you, if you ask one mile at a time... So its important to make the first mile easy and not uphill.
That is a interesting idea but the problem is I think a lot of them my equate it to spam and might but a damper on them opting in to the biz. Is a bit dicey right now with unwanted msg's. There are some case's going around this issue. Temping as that is think better to make sure person is getting something they are expecting. We might think it but alot of folk are very protective of their phones and what they get. My son took expection when a friend forward him a coupon.... Go fingure

That is something to consider John and I never really thought about it. I've yet to find a client who had such thought either but it is something to consider but I dont think it is significant enough to mess up our goal to landing however many clients we want.

Hey Arron, two questions about SMS service.

    1. How many messages do you allow for $250/mo?
    2. Do you let your client to run their own campaigns or you do it for them?

    Nice thread.

The thing about SMS is a lot of business owners know about it, but they are under the impression that it will cost them too much or it is too complicated. I like to always just say try it for free, I'll set it up for you. No problem.

But I prefer delivering the message via letter or email/video. If done right and consistently you will get regular calls.

That may be true in some cases, but for the majority of my clients this was something very fresh and unique to them. I guess it depends on the niche, there were a few rest. that knew about it but other that the rest. niche my other niches were clueless.

For my people out there who doesnt have the deepest pockets, check out TXT180.COM for their SMS service, There 1,000 message package is only 17 bucks, so you can profit huge with this one, even if the business isn't a big one with a big ad budget, you can still charge them 80 bucks per month or something and still make a decent profit.

Thery seem pretty good. Few months ago, I checked them out and they didn't have a reseller program then. I signed up to their "announcement" list but never got any updates...

Is it necessary to have a reseller account with the SMS company to do this? If you are managing all the campaigns for your clients, could you just sign up for your own monthly account and manage and track everything from that one account?

Well, since all your subscribers end up in your account, you're actually building a database of local cell phone numbers. If you were to add a footnote to your flyer than they may get other local offers, you could approach other local businesses and charge them for promoting their offers to your list.

Obviously, your restaurants are not going to be very happy if you were to promote competing offers. However, if you were send other local offers (chiros, dental, carpet cleaning, local events, etc), you could create an awesome additional revenue stream there with very small effort on your part.

Yeah I would say an hour and 20-30 mins I can crank 100 calls, double that if my wife helps me out. I move quite quickly on the phone. This includes calls that are only a few seconds being that the owner isnt around.

I cant see anyone not making at least 50-60 calls in an hours time if you cut down wasted time. Dont have a lull time between calls, have a quick system to document who has been called, if you got to the manager or not, if they were interested, and their information. I just have all this documented within a table in microsoft word. I like to color code the results of the calls, it saves time, nothing extra to type or write.

John did mention about having 100 clients. While this sounds doable (landing 100 clients in 6 months or so) there comes the vital part. How would you manage 100 restaurants' campaigns with quality text to justify the $250 or so they are paying you monthly?

I do have a specific restaurant niche which I can think I can close better at a higher rate so would be more than interested with this.

Yea, once you get too many clients for you to handle you can easily outsource the management to a VA on odesk or freelancer for a very good rate. I can still manage all of my clients by myself and with a little of my wifes help from time to time. I currently have 33 total clients and working on another Spa at the moment, already sent proposal email and she emailed back super excited, expecting her to sign up and send payment today. (This is ANOTHER clients I landed without ANY face to face interaction. All with my script and my proposal email, it's a killer combo)

I think once I hit about 50 or so, I will probably get sick of managing by them and will add this task to my current VA's work list.

      Arron,
Thanks so much for all the info. I should be able to answer any questions that my partner has. I will get back to you very soon.

      Kind regards,
      Traci
      Amy
      Stellar Spa

      ------------

Great! Alright, like I said, it all starts out with a personal shortcode, ex 54545 and a personal keyword, ex stellardeals. Our initial job is to get as many of your current and your future customers ON THAT LIST!! Train everyone to actively promote your VIP Club to each and every customer that you come across. I would really suggest you girls offer a CHANCE to win a free facial/massage/whatever you spa girls do if your custos join the VIP Club. This way your only giving one person something free so it doesn't really cut into your pockets. Tell them one out of 50 people who join your VIP Club, will receive a free whatever. This has worked awesomely for my current clients, so think about that. If not I can get offers for a chance to win free gas, fastfood coupons etc. I will keep in close touch with you and update you when your list grows. I suggest we send our first SPECIAL OFFER text when we get to at least 15 sign ups. Once we get there we can have some sort of phone meeting to brainstorm the best, most irresistable deal to get everyone running to grab the deal before the time limit is up. We will take care of everything on the technical side; subscription organization, database organization, "welcome to the VIP Club" message, and all mass messaging. All you guys have to do is put the word out. People's natural reaction is to sign up anyway, every one wants to be apart of an important club. So a VIP Club where we personally text everyone SUPER deals? It's perfect. On top of that, remember I suggested to offer one person a chance to win something for free and this is double effective to get quick signups. That's pretty much the gist of it really. We will be sending you some great ideas for other areas of your business every once and a while at no charge, just to start opening your eyes to the creative possibilities you have available all around you! Thanks, get back with me after you speak with your partner! Ready when yall are!!

Yes, everything is included in the yearly plan including the set up fee. If you payed today you wouldn't
have to worry about anything for 365 days later. After this text campaign gets your profits up to a
comfortable place, we can start thinking about other services to boost your profits even more.

We are ready to begin when you are. Upon payment, we will send you your SHORTCODE and
your keyword. I suggest offering your customers something free in exchange for signing up
for the VIP club. If you dont want to offer anything free from your end, I have access to
some really great offers that they will love, just let me know and I will find the best one for you.

Payments can be made through paypal to this email address(jiximarketing@gmx.com). You will
receive all of your information within 12 hours of payment.

Here's to a long-lasting, money making business relationship between us!

Okay so your really fresh, I think your best option is to jump on the mass text marketing first to get some more profit flowing and to start building word of mouth about the great deals we're sending out. There is no need to do any services for your FB/twitter/google rankings you have more money to commit to getting that extra exposure. I usually charge $235 upfront and $250 per month or $2.5K per year for our mass text service. I do want to work with you and help your business explode to great heights since you are very new and just opened last month. I can run your text service for you if you can work with $200 upfront and $220 per month or $2K for the whole year. Most of my clients make their monthly fee back with one text message. The yearly fee may be more, but saves you a crap load of money on the back end. Get back with me and let me know what's best for your current financial situation!

(haven't really posted anything) I think we have about $250 to spend a month and that's wishful thinking really. So hopefully you can help us out. Not sure how the marketing thing works, but is it a monthly thing, or a flat rate thing? And if it is a monthly thing, is there a contract? Does it get to a point where the marketing cost should go down as we gain a customer base?

Would like to know more about outsourcing to VA, what kind of VA are you looking for?

And what kind of work will you outsource to them? I am sure not everyone is capable of writing decent copies of texts.

It's in my plan to get 100 clients or so and build it as a decent stream of passive income while concentrating on smaller number of big fish.

I havent gotten to that point yet but you can train any VA to manage the campaigns and write the copies yourself, that's not a lot work and can be left to your marketing mind and just outsource the tedious tasks.

It can be fun to write very short copies, provided that they provide the gist of their offers or deals.

Do you think you can reach that point? Or would you rather focus on rather smaller number of clients and upsell them services which are beneficial to their businesses?

Thanks for the tips so far Arron.

Due to my geographical location and daytime commitment it would be nice if I can close deals without face-to-face meeting with the US business owners. The most I can do is by web conferencing or Skype if the owners really want to see me "face-to-face".

Looking forward to the point that I'll start getting decent amount of referrals. Let me know when your WSO is launched tomorrow.

I have a issue that has been bothering me for a while now.

So you have created a campaign for a resturant or bar and you are offering
a drink special... say 2-1 deal.

Now to receive this offer you have to text in 'beer' to the number.

      Happy days.

But what if the person who has received the offer forwards the text onto his mate, and he does the same to his mate.

Firstly, you have not acquired their number and your giving away free drinks to people who are dodge.

Has anyone really thought about this?

Good way to think of all the possibilities. One way is to simple email them a list of the numbers and keep it updated. If the client has a pc in their business, which they should, a quick search for the number in their email account will diffuse all of that. I assume they can just do this on paper until their list is to large.

Another way is tell everyone all they have to do to get the deal is come in and show the text. The 'lucky' ones trying to pass will probably come in and show their text message like everythings cool until they forget the message has FW: in front of it: Diffused.

If you constantly get people opt'ing in, then the list is always changing... bit pointless sending them a list as it will be old by the time it gets to the client.

Unless you ask the client to log into their sms platform and does a search for the number.

If you copy the text and send it your own number there is no FW: Infront... For Iphones that is.

Sorry to bring this up, just thinking about all avenues.

I understand, but sending them an updated email of their numbers after every promo blast should diffuse that possibility. as the deals only last 24-48 hours. There can be a small loophole exploited Luke, I do understand but we havent had any issues with this from we can see so far. But it is a good thing to think about and brainstorm more ways to cut down on that possibility.

@TommyB No, I work under a month to month agreement

@SirThomas No, I dont offer any months free. They're still happy so why do that *shrug*.

Why does it matter? The idea is to get people into the restaurant and that's exactly what is being done. If somebody is on the list because he decided to sign up for a free drink and sends the coupon he receives to some of his friends who then come and eat at the restaurant - they're essentially free opt-ins.

              Am I missing something?

                You might be.

You have achieved only one of the two main marketing objectives.

Objective #1: Get a customer's fanny in an empty seat. Accomplished, although indirectly.

Objective #2: Capture the customer's phone number for future SMS text message marketing. No, probably not.

If a friend forwards the actual mobile coupon, the recipients have not had to opt-in to your SMS list.

They are not FREE opt-ins, they are NON opt-ins.

Here's the way I look at this: The coupon did double its job. You got people to come in who might not have if their friend didn't send them the coupon. A free soda literally costs a few cents, the business isn't loosing that much, but they are making money on the total bill.

There will always be freeloaders and people who try to weasel their way around coupon terms.

Thats a very good point. Even if those loophole finders get away with it, what is a free drink? They still gotta pay for everything else= more business anyway!

To Luke's concern about people getting around having their cell phone numbers captured by your freebie or twofer by having the offer forwarded by friends, my iphone identifies the text message source in the header of my phone screen.

On all text messages offers I have signed up for, my initial text message short code submission displays just prior to the response offer.

Just train your client staff to look for these two text message trail droppings to insure you have captured them on your SMS database.

I would not worry about that. If a few people came in wanting a free beer and showed me a text, then I would be okay with that. Chances are after that beer, they are going to want another one, and another, etc. Plus they might want a bite to eat. And if I showed them a really good time, and thats the first time they were there, chances are they will be back.

Just wanted to say thank you Areevez I just finished incorporating about 2 weeks ago, setup a merchant account and my business paypal account I seriously started making calls on Sunday and I'm making about 2-300 phone calls a day at this time using the same phone/email script. A lot of the owners seem genuinely interested, getting emails is no problem. Getting passed the gatekeepers is EASY I can't believe it. Seriously if you commit to making calls from 9am to 10pm using an autodialer with this method you will NOT fail.

Are you in control of the list and the client knows nothing other than what you tell them? and does txt180 give you one keyword per $17 with the 1000 messages?

Yeah, I control the list personally and my clients are subscribed to their lists also so they get the texts every time we send them out. It's pretty to maintain on our own, if you keep every client organized, it's cake easy to just send the messages out for them. Yea its 17 per keyword per 1,000.

About your other question, this has never really been a problem when I explain the whole process to them and how we are going to be getting the signups in a really quick fashion with a few marketing tactics.

Just read it, awesome insights... I can tell you right now that this is enough to succeed with. It would be easy enough to set two telemarketers on the phone with this also and have them transferring live hot prospects to you all day... I like it because its a no brainer hardcore "telemarketing" pitch... that an average person could succeed with.

Now given that, a person will have to go get their own sms text messaging service, no biggie, and ecstrapolate some things... But thats what ALL succdessful telemarketers do, they jump in with a basic pitch and make sales and figure out the rest along the way... and they succeed while others are still waiting till everything is perfect... or while others are waiting till they have they have so much knowledge that they can talk way beyond the point when a person was ready to close ... they over sell, most of their conversations end with the business owner saying "I will have to think about this"?

Some may say 'I dont want to be like a telemarketer...Im a 'consultant'...".

Great, that pride is why an 18 year old pothead boiler cold caller can write more sales in a day than you can in a week. Get over yourself.

    Why?

People fail with Too much info in my opinion, because they try to put it all in their pitches...Too much info, and not enough "Benefits and Emotion".

Throwing an encyclopedia at prospects isnt what sells...'Emotional committment" is what sells - "Benefits" - If you get to talking too much about "features" , its too much for a client to assimilate, and business men dont make decisions when they are scratching their heads trying to assimilate all the info.

This is a straight up way to "pitch" and "sell".

And quit pushing paper around your desk. Its not an SMS encylopedia, but its just what you need to sell, if you can get past all the inward dialogue saying "I dont know enough yet".

You want to kinow enough about the "benefits" to tell someone and get them excited, thats how sales happen... you want to close them while they are excited, you dont want to keep talking and over sell.

Providing good service is a "given". There's hardly a way to fail sending a text message to a customers own data base.

I love it. Im going to use it first chance... I believe that this is the 'approach" that works for high volume sales.

If you only want to make 2 sales per month, go take a college course and you can sit around with the smart guys that are talking about how much they know for 3 hours to business peopole and putting them to sleep... if you want to SELL like mad - Take the telemarketing approach - Volume - Thats what Arron is demonstrating here, and it works - If you will just choose "Not" to intellectualize, and if you will choose to just get on the phone with this script, and a "point to prove", you will succeed.

    I dig it!

Well TD find out if they have a way to easily fill cancelled appts. Ask if they would think having a list of clients on a waiting list would be a good idea? What if 1st thing that morning they get two cancels and then they could blast out to their list have opening at X & Y and 1st come get's it say at 10% off.. So instead of losing out with nothing they can fill and still 90%. I'm sure they should have no problem getting clients on the list.

This is an awesome script! Lots of great content in the thread, too. I might have to pick up the phone and give this a try for a while. Once I go back to looking for clients with my offline business I'm definitely keeping this in mind.

    Thanks!

    Arron,

Great thread and I know a few small restaurants near me that may be good prospects. Do you send out the messages to their customers once a week or is less frequently?

If you offer the free facial as a prize (or something similar), how do you get the winner from the list of people that are texted determined? I know it has to be randomly picked but how is that done?

    Arron,

What happens the first month because with the setup up fee plus first month charges aren't they getting little response because they are in the early stages of building up their text message subscribers? I was wondering what you say to them about this?

Also, do they ever want to manage their own account and if so what do you say on that?

The set up fee is all they pay for the first month. Most of them definitely make that much back and more in their first month.

I tell all my clients that I am the only one that can manage accounts. I like to have total control.

Might I suggest when you want to add what the customers really want like QR Codes they simply "scan" to sign up to the list that easy, video, voice, photos, and other stuff like that.. you come check out Mobile With SMS. We have it all and then some you can make a KILLING selling each of these services. Plus text180 is the most basic of basic... we have good relationships with all of the major and several minor mobile carriers for much more reliable deliverability.

You should charge them overage fee per extra text message. Come up with your own price for that, an example could be 10 cent per text over 1,000...

I find it pretty easy to get passed the gatekeeper simply with a stern, "I need to speak with the manager/owner" line.

Depends on the kind of business your talking about, it's too easy to get passed restaurant gatekeepers! The gatekeeper doesn't need to know anything but you need to speak with the manager about something that only he/she can help you with.

well theyre not really gatekeepers as such then, theyre just other members of staff who answered the phone, im splitting hairs but it makes a hell of a difference as youd know if you rung businesses that had proper gatekeepers in place

So as I am getting my site set up and getting ready for the pool season to end so i can start my offline cold calling journey I was always thinking mobile sites were my 'foot in the door' pitch. But as John says this pitch provides the one thing a business owner wants to here.....How to get more people in the door buying things!!!!!

I may lead with SMS and upsell the mobile site instead of the reverse. Mobile sites are good and all but what is the DIRECT BENEFIT to the biz owner? We know what this direct benefit is, but it seems like the SMS direct benefit is much easier to explain.

    Great thread...consider the WSO purchased!

    Hi Arron,

    Thanks for this.
I think I might make one tweak. I'd take out the bit about "This is what I do for local restaurants just like yours!"

Just sounds a bit like you are doing the same thing for all his competitors.

I'd replace it with "This is what I can do for your restaurant".
Makes the owner feel like he's getting personal sevice.

Just a thought, I might be being a bit picky, and on second thoughts, if your script is working for you, why change it?

Also, if John likes it, that's praise indeed!

When giving something away for free in exchange for them to be on the vip list how do we know whether they sign up to be on the vip club? Do you physically get them to write down their number and add it to a database are do they have to text a certain code to get added to it.

If they have to text a code how do we know for certain that they texted it?

From what I've read in other posts.. the idea would go a lil' like this.

"The waitress comes to the table at the end of the meal and says - would you be interested in getting 10% off this meal right now?!

All you have to do is text this number and show me the confirmation screen when I get back - and you'll get 10% off."

So, the waitress confirms it - you also know the waitress OR waiter will keep up their end of the bargain since it will most likely benefit their tips!!

lol I do it even better. I walk into the restauran or retail store and act like I am a customer. Then after a few minutes I ask for the owner (If owner is not there then manager) then I introduce my-self Hey how are you doing my name is Your name here (no special company name just yet just plain name) I wanted to show you something real quick. Do you got a second? Yes Sure whats up? Take out your cell phone text Pizza to Shortcode 9If the restaurant is a pizzeria) then I preset a message on my back endloke Emilio's Pizza VIP List Get buy one medium pizza get the second at half price on your next visit. and they are just blown away of seeing their business name on the message. Next question they ask is How it da F%$^& did you do that? And you answer with a question What do you think it will do to your business being able to send a message like that to all your customers? From there he is pretty much sold.

If they say, no I don't think so blah blah blah you say:
      ---------

Would you mind if I just ask you one quick question?

Do you want more customers? (everyone will say yes to this)

Then give me 10 mins to come in and show you exactly how you can get them, whenever you want! Worst case you don't like it and that's fine. You come out of it armed with some more knowledge about the future of your industry and we part as friends. So when is a good time for me to come meet you?
      -------

Never, ever try and sell them the product on the phone! The entire dynamic changes when you are in person. People are MUCH MUCH MUCH nicer in person.

And just so you know I'm not talking out of my a** I have been cold calling for the last 5 years for a living, first in the real estate biz and now with my mobile marketing company.

And just an example for all you curious people out there, I call a minimum of 100 businesses a day. Out of those 100 I will get to around 45 decision makers, and from there I will get around 30 meetings for sometime in the future. I go on around 3-5 sales calls everyday. It takes me around 2 1/2 hours to cold call, which I have just recently brought on my first employee to start doing it for me!

For all of you guys out there who are scared to death of cold calling, trust me I know exactly how scared you are. The first time..hell the hundredth time I did it I was shaking when I called, but you get over it. Just remember, they can't reach through the phone and strangle you and you can always hang up if you panic.

The worst that someone can do is say no, and I thank people when they say no because that means I am one more call closer to getting a new client.

Keep track of your numbers so that you can figure out exactly how many calls you have to make to get 1 client. My current number is 15 calls. So every 15 telephone calls I make (this includes following up/reminder/cold calling phone calls) I sign one client. And when you look at it like that, when someone tells you to go to hell and stop calling your just 14 away from your next sale

Sales is all about persistence so get off you a**, stop trolling this forum (yeah I'm talking to you) and pick up that phone!

PS: When you do start meeting people in person, DO NOT start talking pitching them at first. Find a common ground, something to talk about. Scan their office, do they have trophies? Pictures? Kids? Magazine subscriptions? Find something to establish a common ground and talk about that. If they start going to business go right back to the common ground until you have a rapport built. THEN you go into the pitch, never before.

Remember, a company never buys anything, a person buys it. You have to get that person to like you before he/she will ever buy anything from you. I would suggest reading the book: How to Win Friends and Influence People. If will teach you exactly how to sell to someone and make them like you while you do it!

Best of luck! And feel free to PM me any questions that you might have.

Hey Arron that's a good script you have there, I actually used to use the "Can I ask you a quite question please" line and I can vouch that it does work very effectifly indeed.

I have only just touched base with the whole: SEO Marketing Campaign's in the last day or two, I quite like the whole concept and may jump back on the phone and do what I am best at, I used to provide telemarketing for my past carer and was very successful.

This has actually opened my eyes to some untapped potential, I look forward to giving it a go soon thanks for the share.

    Cheers

Hey Aaron, where can I pick up this WSO? I know it's closed but do you have a link on Clickbank where I can get it? Thanks!

Hey, Aaron. This sounds simply effective. Thanks. I just looked at the WSO you mention at the bottom of your post, and I see that it's closed. Too bad. I probably would have considered purchasing it. I just landed my first attorney client this week in the offline world, and I'm open to hearing suggestions for continuing in this direction. I find that I have a real passion for helping local businesses increase the number of people who are able to find their services. It's such a kick to add a little "kick" to the local economy.

I apologize if someone has already asked you this question, but I didn't feel like reading the entire thread right this minute..

Are you making the restaurants sign any type of contract term or are you just working on a month to month basis with them?

I'm gonna take the day off and personally visit the restaurants in my local area. I'd imagine people are more likely to listen to what you've got to say than if you were on the phone.

Didn't go to well for me today. Either the owner wasn't in / they was doing sms already / they didn't think they needed it.

Got two "leads" if I can even call it that:

      1. Gotta ring on Sat to make appointment to see the owner
      2. "Catch" the owner when he's in on Wednesday

All in all, probably visited 10 shops. I know that's not enough but it was raining so I called it a day after about an hour of visiting and walking. I think I'm gonna try cold calling instead. Easier to reach mass people
