Local Marketing Using Facebook?

Hey guys,

I just launched a job search website in my area today. I'm going to school right now, so I only have time to email businesses and connect with them on Facebook to get the word out.

I sent a bunch of emails today, explaining what the website is for, benefits, etc. I got one email back saying it was spam, but it's really the only contact method I have time for right now.

Are there any tips that any of you have for connecting with Local businesses on Facebook? Facebook is really the only other option I have right now for getting businesses to post jobs on my website, and I don't really know the best way in going about it.

Thank you!

It will be a spam if the content that you will posts in your Facebook are not that appealing or in repetition. I would suggest, make your ad a bit eye-catchy since most people are mostly attracted first at the appearance, color, uniqueness and attractiveness to your ads. It will usually will caught the attention of a person on their sense of sight. And also, try to posts your job search not only from your Facebook page but your other social networking sites like MySpace, Friendster, Twitter and etc. Search some social networking sites in the internet and probably you will provided with a list. Then you may post your job search on those sites after you will register.

You could try using LinkedIn, as that is business-focused. Or even Craigslist might be worth a go.

Otherwise, make sure every interaction with a business is personalised.

You say you don't have time to do any more than Facebook, but you get out of things what you put in. If you don't feel you can make the time right now, this may not be the right time for you to do this.

Sending out cold emails can be dicey, but check the WSO section as I remember seeing a couple about this topic (gogetta?). If you have a little cash, you can try mailing postcards too. I've never tried it, but there are quite a few warriors on here that swear by it. There are (maybe 'were' if they're closed) also a number of dirt cheap WSOs dedicated to this that come with training and templates. Most of them are to sell offline marketing services, but if you keep the graphics and change the wording this could help.

why don't you create a facebook fan page for your business. Place a link on your wall and do email marketing using it.

There is another way of doing this too.

You need to have your site at the top in local rankings and then give the businesses a call. In that way, your words are not important but your site and its position is important and will create authority in their mind to which they will respond giving you their listing of job requirements.

I hope this can help you.
