Will this idea work as good as I think it will?

I see a lot of ads in the paper for Lasik procedures. Usually they advertise for around $500 per eye, so I guess most procedures generally go for $1500+

I was thinking this....

1.) approach eye surgeon about holding a giveaway next month for a completely free lasik procedure.

2.) promote the giveaway as hard as possible: direct mail, newspaper, whatever. and encourage people to go to their website to easily enter. (on a separate domain made specifically for this contest)

3.) set up a squeeze page on a new domain with a contact form to enter into the giveaway for a free Lasik procedure. At the end of the form, have a small checkmark box labeled "I'd also like more information about Lasik as well as a FREE consultation"

4.) Now we have their interest in a free consultation so they can be called back, as well as a list of all the people interested in Lasik, which is perfect to direct mail in the future.

Say we send out 15,000 postcards advertising the contest as well as newspaper ads and we get 350 people to enter it, there's gotta be a high portion of people who will get free consultations and a bunch of those should convert to sales I would think.

Does this sound as simple and effective as I think it should be or am I missing something?
