How would you go about hiring a Super Star sales person?

Hi,

I am about to post ads online. I want someone who will approach and close offline companies for me, to do JVs and past customer reactivation deals.

Should I list all the qualities/skills I am looking for, or give very little info and see if they reveal those qualities as we speak over the phone and in person?

What are some good questions I could ask them?

Also, would you have the person sign a Non-Disclosure agreement? If the star is really good at sales, he/she could easily take off with my simple concepts and leave me out of the equation. What do you think?

What percentage would you give away? In my case, they'd be doing almost everything.

Thanks!

Gab

Make sure you use a strong title to get your posts seen and definitely say what you're looking for. As a matter of fact, the more honest you are about what you want, the better off you'll be.

What are some good questions I could ask them?
"What in your background do you think has best prepared you for a position like this?"

    "What are your biggest strengths?"

    "What are your biggest weaknesses?"

"Are you looking for a job or a company that you can grow with?"

"Tell me about your experience with prospecting?"

"Whether it's related to sales or not, tell me about a successful negotiation you've conducted"

    "What happened?"

Use open ended questions as much as possible...

    "Tell me"

    "How..."

    "Explain..."

    "Would you share with me..."

    "Why is that?"

I use sales reps a lot and in the beginning I had them fill out lots of paperwork. Now, I don't bother until they at least make the first sale. Don't worry about somebody running off with your ideas, you'll be fine.

If it's straight commission, you have to be generous, probably 30%. If you can pay them, then 15% is probably about right, but I'm pulling these numbers from my own experience. I don't know your price points.
