Any other off liners noticed that Google places changed today?

Specifically, no more email address and a big red review button?

Also does any one know if this is the beginning of a larger update?

and finally ... does anyone know how to remove BS .. or fake negative reviews from Google places page?

    removing fake reviews is not really possible. Only way would be to delete the listing, and start a new one. 30 day wait period to re rank for keywords, but you get to start fresh. pm me for some more tips i dont want to publicly advertise.

      You can see all the changes that appeared on the Place pages yesterday here:

      No one knows if or when an update is coming up as these changes are company secret of Google. However, usually when there are major bugs on Google Places that means something is being tweaked.

      Currently the ways to deal with negative reviews are:

      - reply to them as the verified owner
      - flag them as inappropriate
      - ask clients for more reviews, which will "cover" the negative ones

      This has to be one of the worst advices I've heard on the forum (and I've heard a lot of bad advices). Never, I repeat NEVER delete your Place page yourself for whatever reason before you try absolutely everything else.

        i did not realize the inappropriate flag would help, i thought it was only for comment spam ... thank you

            The emails not appearing as well as the other additional details is an issue from quite some time ago. That's why we did not include it in this particular article, as it covers only the changes from yesterday.

            The "More about this place" section is gone, but it was previously not really helpful, as it was neither showing the full list of citations, nor the most up-to-date and relevant ones.

    I can only answer one of your questions i.e. how to deal with negative reviews. The rest, Google will keep changing, you have signed your life to that when you started working with Google. Places is just another addition to the ever changing seo mix - welcome to the seo roller coaster.

    Even the best of businesses get bad reviews, it seems there is no way to satisfy everyone, so the first thing to realize in real business is that bad reviews are in fact customer feedbacks which should be used to improve service. Of course they need to be taken away from the place page - to do this, it is best to add positive reviews so that it disappears from the main page - keep it honest, no fake reviews are recommended, you might be asked for proof. Since Google Aggregates the reviews from various citation sites also, spread your reviews across the citation sites also, in addition to google. You will have a scratchless page shortly. Enjoy!
