Picking a domain name - opinions please?

I have a brand name I want to use for my offline consulting business.
Let's just say the brand is Flurry (I just saw a McDonalds ad!)

Which domain name is then best?

FlurryInternetMarketing.com
FlurryOnlineMarketing.com

Flurry.com, FlurryMarketing.com both gone. Above are the best I can do.

Opinions very welcome!

Flip a coin ... Then go to Macka's.

I think you'll find it's the luck of the draw.

    Good luck

Run a keyword analysis and use the one with the best searched and least competitive one that would be the analytical way to do it.

    Thanks,
    Fred

Here's a few others that you may want to consider:

    FlurryWebMarketing.com
    FLurryWebServices.com
    FlurryInternetServices.com
    FlurryWebPromotion.com

Web Services is more encompassing. The phrase would allow web design as well as marketing.

If not, I would go with internet marketing over online marketing. IMO. No data to back up my opinion.

I would have my primary business location in the name not something like flurry. You are starting from scratch why not tilt the scales in your favor with your biz name and domain. Do your keyword research!

Thanks for all the replies everyone!
My locale is quite small and I would need to reach out to some larger towns which are 25 - 30 miles away so I don't want to limit myself with geo-specific name. I would either have to register domains for each of the towns I intend to target OR go with a brand.
I like the idea of *****WebServices.com which is available so thanks for that Todd - I think that's the way I'll go.

I like the former of the two you mentioned; but I still don't have much of reason for this. In the future I would like to be incorporated, so it's probably time for me to walk this road as well.

If it's offline consulting, you might just want to go with something simple like Flurry Consulting, because alot of your clientele is going to not be internet savvy, so they either wouldn't think they needed an internet marketing firm, or they'd think they couldn't afford it.

First rule of offline internet marketing: never say "internet marketing."

I have this idea that hyphenated domain names are fine for online only ventures when people find you by clicking a link but if you're planning to promote your site in other ways that involve speaking or typing or hardcopy printing hyphens add an impediment that's un-needed.

"What's my website? It's Flurry Hyphen Marketing dot com. No, no you don't have to type H Y P H E N, just the hyphen sign! What's that? Oh, it's the minus sign. Beside zero, on the top line of your keyboard. No, no you don't press shift - THAT gives you an underscore. What's the difference, you say?......."

On the plus side (no pun intended) using a hypenated domain name is a great way to get a keyword domain.

My personal opinion is the shorter the domain name, the better. Look at the kingpins: Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc. One word. If I could go back in time, I'd seek out a nice short domain name.

It's not: Mcdonaldsfastfood (dot) com...it's just your Uncle D's.

You kind of make a statement with just a brand name and no descriptor...your a legit company, not some hack trying to sell "first page of Google" nonsense.

      What about Flurry.net or Flurry.org?

Can a business get away with using a .org (ie:flurry.org) ?

Absolutely. There are no regulations around what you can use YOUR domain name for. There IS the psychological factor of "oh, well dotCom's are the BEST man!" but, like beauty this is in the eye of the beholder.
If you can get a nice dotOrg that is memorable... Go for it! (one of my better performing sites in-network right now is a dotOrg (keyword-based, fairly good traffic/conversions).
(the caveat is, you could "lose" any potential repeat visitors who mistakenly type dotCom in the future)

    Both works.

My domain is "city" + "seo" which has nothing to do with my name or my business.

And since seo is a little harder to rank I bought the domain off someone for $350. Do i regret it? no because I rank on top 3 now. Can the domain be better? yes... but oh well i have other things I have to focus on.

I can always by the domain I like it forward it to my main site.

    Hope that helps.

That is a long domain name IMO. Remember, your potential clients will be typing this in and you don't want to turn them off for any reason.
