Awesome Portable SEO Thumbdrive when visiting clients

This is a great tool to carry along with you when visiting clients.

This can be a backup to your laptop, in case something goes wrong ( i.e. your battery dies), and you need to use their computer.

1. Get a 250 Mb capacity thumbdrive.

2. Download and Install Firefox Portable on your thumbdrive.

Launch Firefox Portable and Install Your Favorite SEO Add-ons

Because every plugin you install in Firefox Portable will be carried with you, and you won't be using it for normal browsing, there's no reason to go light on the number of add-ons you install (save personal taste). There are a lot of spectacular SEO add-ons out there, here are a few of my favorites:
    • Firebug - Absolutely vital for examining/debugging technical SEO issues.
    • FlashBlock - Ultra-simple flash blocking with one-click reactivation.
    • Web Developer - Lets you disable Javascript, Cookies, Images and CSS to see a site the way spiders do (plus dozens of advanced features more relevant to web developers).
    • MozBar - The SEOmoz toolbar - PageAuthority, DomainAuthority, direct interface with Open Site Explorer, and more nifty functions than you can shake a stick at.
    • Google Toolbar - Get PageRank straight from the source, and you can turn off pretty much all the other functions.
    • User Agent Switcher - The next best way to pose as a searchbot if you're not using MozBar.
    • RankChecker - A tool by Aaron Wall, very handy for quick low-volume ranking checks. (Requires registration to download)
    • SEO For Firefox - Another tool by Aaron Wall, I mostly leave this one turned off, but the SEO XRay functionality can be quite useful (Requires registration to download)
Now fire it up and customize it the way you need it to be.

( You won't need all plugin with all the functions at the same time.)

Install any additional SEO tools that you have that can be run from a
thumbdrive.

Plug it into any computer and make sure no instances of firefox are currently running.

This can be done for Mac also, just save under two different folders so you can open the appropriate one for the computer your on.

Good Luck

Thanks for the great tools, even when you have a laptop sometimes it's good to show stats on the clients computer. Also great for those who might not have a laptop....

Hi - did you mean a 256mb flash drive? - or 250gb flash? (A 250gig flash drive may cost more than a portable hard drive the same size or larger...I just wanted to clarify).
but a great tip nonetheless - you can get a 4gig flash for 6 bucks at staples...

You're right Nick! I figured Ferris meant 256mb, but that's so small I don't even know if they sell them anymore...I haven't seen them in a while - actually I meant to say 250gb usb drive instead of flash,(my portable drive is USB) so I didn't make it clear either!:rolleyes
They do make a 256gb flash drive though and a 512gb...amazing...

I remember when Bill Gates said 256k would be all you'd EVER NEED to run a computer!
It won't be long before terabytes are commonplace...

Sorry guys forget to subscribe to the thread.

I didn't pay attention to the size of the drive when I posted this.

I think the smallest drive you can even buy is like 2 gig nowadays. You can get one at walmart for under $10 bucks, I think most of us have at least one lying around.

Google Toolbar is the most used for me. I love the fact that it is easy to use and I can easily determine the rank and links in a page.
