Google Places - What if you move

I have an offline business I'm trying to promote. I want to get started on some Google Places rankings. However, the office I am using now is temporary. Actually it's free, it's part of my brother's medical suite, I have a side office. Eventually I want to move to an executive or office suite once/if things pick up.

IF I do all this work on this address, what happens if I move? Additionally, it's the same address as the medical suite, that will also present a problem as well?

  • yes you can use one address for one google places listing only if you decide to change the address down the road you will be getting a verification postcard and also you would need to change all work done with the new address like citations ect

Changing all the work that you have done is NOT a problem.

When you change address, just change the address in the Google Places listing.
Keep a record in excel (spreadsheet) of all the citation sites (Business Directories) that you have listed your business (Yelp etc) with username, password, URL.

When you move you can provide a copy to an outsourced worker in the Philippines to change the address for you, each citation takes about 15 minutes each with verifying the email and populating the contact details, so use 4 an hour as a guide for manual submission. (I don't recommend doing it yourself as its time consuming)

You can find someone on Fiverr.com to do this for you on the first time round, just use the rating as a guide and request a list of the sites. I have not seen a Fiverr provider offer services to change details, only setup new listings.

Changing your position will not harm you but I will suggest you to place your permanent address in Google places.
