SELLING local listings packages

im going to try selling a local listings package as a foot in the door service.

i have two questions...

1. how do you "SELL/Pitch" it to the customer... i.e basically.... i can get you on the first page of google, then once you do, educate them and explain how SEO would get them into the organic results?

2. and two, can someone list out what all would be included in a comprehensive local listings package.

google places
yahoo local
bing portal
local directories
google mobile web page


anything im missing?

    In your pitch I would definitely inform them of why they need to be listed. Include the statistics on how many people are using google vice yellow pages now. How much of search engine use is to find a local business, etc.

    Just a quick tip, target businesses that would benefit greatly from having a listing. Meaning that people are actually searching for that type of business and that when they do the amount of increased business will justify this type of expense.

    Second, there is much more to doing local listings than just filling out your listed resources. Part of your pitch could be the optimization of the local listings. And, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of listings and citation sites. You have some of the big ones listed but you need to research what works for your local area.

    And, what is this a foot in the door service for?

      it'll be a foot in the door service for a custom package based on a pretty thorough analysis of what services would be needed to have the advantage in their marketing. So full blown market research & SEO, maybe social media, sms, - perhaps some email marketing, tracking and analysis training.

      basically a foot in the door service for a much more comprehensive marketing makeover, so to speak, which is where i can provide the most value and use my strange mind the way its supposed to used.

      How much work and how (relatively) hard is it to get all the afforementioned listed and manage it?

      I figure do it thoroughly, and do it right, a few times, systemize the processes and management and then outsource...

      are you saying this is unrealistic?

    A good way to get your foot in the door and close the sale is offer them FREE training. Show them what they need to do, but DON'T do it for them. Once they see what is involved and how much work it takes, they will ask you how much it will cost for you to do it for them!

    I use mikogo to do online meetings so I don't waste my time and gas driving all over town to meet with people who may or may not use my services. Using mikogo impresses the hell out of them too!

    You won't close every deal, but you will start picking up new clients and making money.
