What do you charge for ad space?

i know this is kind of a vague and subjective topic, but lets assume i am ranked number one for a handful of valuable keywords in a given niche. lets say a specific type of attorney in a specific city. with each industry it makes sense that the price would be different based on ROI per customer/lead, whether they can expect residual/continued income and conversions from that single lead, etc...

but if my site were getting say 150 visits a month for these highly targeted local keywords and i wanted to offer exclusive adspace, what have you seen as a successful rate to ask for?

i think $300/mo would be an easy sell considering one conversion can get a lawyer $2500. i think $500/mo could be tougher but would still offer a great value.

consider adwords CPC's for many of these keywords range form $15-$50. if we use $20 for the math, 25 clicks costs $500 (plus typical managing fees charged by marketing companies). if my 150 visitors brought in more than that, it would seem fair to charge more than that...maybe as high as $1000/month for the ad space......

thoughts?

I wouldn't do ad space I would collect the leads and sell them you should probably make more that way.

while i have seen this talked about, it always seemed to me like this would greatly over complicate the process and make each site less of a passive income and more of an fully active income and maintenance effort. with a situation like a lawyer, where someone may be looking for a service rather quickly, does it leave much time to broker leads? does this include one transaction between me and business owner or does it require a lead broker middle-man?

It depends on the space it takes ,traffic that needed

If they are making a long term purchase and are paying the full amount up front i.e. if they buy ad space for 12 months and pay the full 12 months up front, then I usually give a discount. The second question you need to ask is how long they want to purchase the ad space for.
