Would you use a .in domain?

I am creating a website for my new local offline marketing business and my business name is available as a .com or even .net domain in many forms (hyphens, etc).

However, I can come up with a short clever phrase related to my business name using a .in domain.

This is for my main website that will be my email address, will be on my business cards etc. It's not a keyword domain, but it is related to the type of marketing I do.

How do you think it would be perceived by clients? WOuld you do something like this?
#domain

Its great that you are taking action to make things happen, first I just wanted to say congrats. In my personal experience a .in does not look good on a business card or on any type of marketing and the worst part is most people just like .com web domains.

Focus on the domains that have your business name in them, why, because you are branding your self in the process. if you clients google you your biz all they will see is that you must know what you are doing because you have business ranked for the top spots. Seriously this alone has added expert status to me and my offline marketing business.

    Good luck hope that helped

Another way of saying what you wrote is that you have a "hack" in mind. For example "drive.in" That kind of hack sometimes works. It depends on how clever it is and how much effort you put into "normalizing" it -- making it a household word. The previous poster is right. Most people expect .com But if you are clever maybe you can be an exception to the rule.

I have a few .in domains. Some of them get nice write in traffic from Americans. I get a lot of traffic from Indians, which makes sense for an Indian domain. If you want to do business with Indians in India, as .in domain makes sense. Maybe you want a product placement in a Bollywood movie ;-)

I would not use a .in unless I was interested in doing business in India.

I recently sold off about 10 .in names that I had purchased, 90% of the traffic was from India.
