Can you check out my latest quote for an offline gig?

Hi guys, Just wanted to post my latest quote for an offline project I am trying to land. It's the biggest project I have taken on and I am very confident I can do a great job. I am still stuck a little as to what to charge. I have calculated it will cost me approx $1,500 in outsourcing fees. I have posted it below for you to comment on. Any advice is appreciated.

Included in quote:-

Website design, development and build: This also includes all graphic design, all photos and all content. The website will have as many pages as required to achieve the final result for the customer.
Sales Copy: The sales copy on the main website will be written by a professional copy writer. This copy writer has a proven record and has achieved hundreds of millions of dollars worth of sales for major online companies.
Lead Capture and Traffic Properties: This will include 10 specific websites to capture leads and drive traffic to the main sales site. These properties will rank high in Google quicker and will improve the sales for the main site. Custom made video will be used on these sites.
Payment processor: Paypal will be used to integrate all subscriptions into the database. This way the payments are collected automatically and people can cancel their subscriptions at their will. Paypal processes all major credit cards and is very trusted online.
Customer database: A lead capture form will be coded into every website including the main sales site. There will be 2 separate databases created, 1 for non – buyers and 1 for buyers. Full set up of the lists inside Aweber will also be done.
Detailed Online Market Research: A report will be provided showing the volume of all keywords that will be targeted for the initial setup. Only keywords that are agreed upon will be used. Competition analysis and current trends are also included in this.
All 3rd Party Account Creation: Any 3rd party accounts such as Aweber, Paypal, domain registration and hosting that can be completed by me will be.
Search Engine Optimization: All on page seo will be completed upon set up and an off page seo campaign will be started to give the website a solid grounding in the search engines. This is required to get indexed and start an initial flow of traffic to the offer. It will include article writing and submission, press release writing and submission, video creation and submission, backlink building and various other advertising platforms.
Analytics Reports: A fortnightly report will be provided for the first 3 months after completion of the entire project. This will give insight to where changes need to be made to improve sales, conversions and traffic.

The above project outline is quoted as a one time set up fee and includes as many revisions as is required for the customer to be completely happy with the finished project.

Cost of project: $4,600

Timeline: Approx 3 months. (I am aiming for 6 weeks)

Payment: Full payment is required upfront unless arranged otherwise.

Ongoing management and seo is quoted separately should it be required.

In my book... WAY too open ended! Unlimited pages and revisions? You're gonna kill yourself for a $3000 profit.

You have to put a limit on revisions even if you think this client will be "easy".

Your SEO is too vague also. What if they decide it means 3,766 articles and 170 Million backlinks halfway through the project?

I agree with Michael-- offering them unlimited pages and unlimited revisions could really come back to haunt you. I understand the need to please the client and you want to come off that you are going to go above and beyond for them, but put a limit of 5 changes (which is quite a lot actually) and then any changes above and beyond that will cost $50 an hour, or something along those lines.

Also, 10 websites for lead capture seems like quite a lot. That could end up taking quite a bit of your time. But that is probably something you already presented and talked about with your potential client.

Another thing to be more clear on is the 3rd party account creation. You say that will be done by you, but does that mean you are going to pay for it as well or do they have to pay the $19/month for Aweber and then all the hosting/domain fees? I would recommend that you bill that to the client, but set up affiliate links for Aweber and the hosting so that you can make some money on the backend.

Along those lines, are you going to be managing their e-mail list, databases, hosting, and all of that, or is that going to be done by your client? If you are going to be managing it, you want to put that into the proposal, and I would recommend charging a monthly management fee. It looks like you are going to be sending them analytic reports, which will definitely take some time out of your day to compile (obviously not a lot), but it is again worthwhile getting paid monthly to do that.

One last thing I would suggest, is making the payment half up front and then half upon completion, or offering a slight discount if they pay all up front. This is something that I have found works for me.

Anyway, I hope this helps and best of luck landing the client!

    -Ben

If you do this, get EVERYTHING in writing, in detail. Give them a price for changes.

Make sure you get everything in writing.
Have an aggreement they will sign.
    Limit your revisions.
For your clients benefit, put a price on each one of the jobs. Make these prices double than what you'd be happy with. Then at your quote summary, you total everything up and give them a huge discount if they order within 7 days. This will be an offer they can't refuse.

    Good Luck!

    PS: GO CATS!

Thanks heaps for your advice guys. I really appreciate it. I have taken it on board and made the following changes. Oh yeah, I got the gig too!

A bit of background on the client too. He is a friends stepfather so I already knew him. I am basically implementing a complete new business idea from scratch for him and he definitely wants me to manage it once it is up and running so the future prospects for making money out of this are awesome. He already has enough interested people to kick it off at an income of $5,000 a month straight away. He is a BIG businessman in my home city with a LOT of contacts. Doing a great job with this will get me more work than I can handle. Here is the updated version (check the updated price)

      Included in quote:-

Website design, development and build: This also includes all graphic design, all photos and all content. The website will have 5 - 10 pages in order to achieve the final result for the customer.

Sales Copy: The sales copy on the main website will be written by a professional copy writer. This copy writer has a proven record and has achieved hundreds of millions of dollars worth of sales for major online companies.

These properties will rank high in Google quicker and will improve the sales for the main site. Custom made video will be used on these sites. (these are generic sites that will focus on 1 keyword each, 15 minutes per site to set up)
Payment processor: Paypal will be used to integrate all subscriptions into the database. This way the payments are collected automatically and people can cancel their subscriptions at their will. Paypal processes all major credit cards and is very trusted online.
Customer database: A lead capture form will be coded into every website including the main sales site. There will be 2 separate databases created, 1 for non - buyers and 1 for buyers. Full set up of the lists inside Aweber will also be done.
Detailed Online Market Research: A report will be provided showing the volume of all keywords that will be targeted for the initial setup. Only keywords that are agreed upon will be used. Competition analysis and current trends are also included in this.

Be specific on the deliverables: how many links and from what sources; how many pages the site will be, etc.

Why are you creating 10 websites if this is an offline gig? And, if this is an offline gig, what type of industry are you in where you have all the sales online?

Also, does an offline gig really need a professional copywriter? You can still charge for this but if its just about ranking a places listing you can find a cheaper option.

Also, regarding the 10 lead capture sites again, why not just do one lead capture page split tested? That way all of your efforts can be applied to generating traffic to that one page.

I have put the number of each service in there now

The 10 websites are to only capture leads. They will be easy to rank fast for 1 keyword each. They will be a generic layout that will trnsfer from site to site. The structure I will use will take approx 1 hour to set them all up. The industry is property investing.

Also, does an offline gig really need a professional copywriter? You can still charge for this but if its just about ranking a places listing you can find a cheaper option.
The professional copywriter will cost me $297. This is minimal compared to the results this guy gets.

      Again, just easier to rank.

    Hi Mark,

Just my 2c so take it as you will, but I think that if he wants you managing all of this in the future that you should get all of the management in writing now and nail down a contract.

In the long run, there is a LOT there that involves management and he may be hesitant to pay the management fees that you deserve for all of that once it's all done. You need to convince him right now that management will be necessary, tell him exactly what you'll be doing and lay down the service contract as part of the job; which it is.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

We have touched on the management but it would take a huge chunk of my time so I would basically quote a full time job wage, which to me is about $100,000 a year. If I don't get that type of money it really wouldn't be worth it. Then there is the thing of do I want to dedicate that much time to one project when I am starting a business of my own.

The management side of things does need to be taken care of but that is not really my problem unless he makes an offer too good to refuse.
