help with cold call email for web design work

people, I need help to draft an email. I am hoping that people here may help with ideas.

I am trying to start a web design business and intend to search yellowpages etc etc for leads and then send out email offering my services.

Does anyone have an ideas of what i should include in this email ?

      and yet people do it everyday..and I'm one of those people But to the OP, I think cold calling or direct mail would work better for site design, but you can attach a report about why having a website would help their business and leave a number for them to call you in the email if their interested. You might want to look up the rules for the Can-Spam act and put a form of *disclosure* in the email and giving them an option to *opt out* if they want (even though they never opted in lol) but if you do that you should be fine. I sent out thousands upon thousands of emails before even doing that and had NO problems as far as someone telling me I'm spamming them. Of course people will tell you to stop emailing them, but if you cold call someone, they could tell you to stop calling them or just flat out cuss you out..that's life

    Find a business that doesn't have a site, or has a crappy looking one, design a great looking site for them for FREE. A couple of those and word will spread around town about you.

    Don't expect an email to be that effective. Do something different than most..... separate yourself
