Hey fellow offliners,

Quick question...

How exactly do you track your campaigns for your clients to see if they are working for them.

Example:

You set up a mobile optimized website, how do you track for this?
You set up SMS marketing, how do you track for this etc etc.

Hope someone can help.

I install Google Analytics on all the websites I create and then can track results that way.

As for SMS results, there are a couple different ways to track it: First is opt-ins... any SMS provider worth their weight will allow you to login and see how many people have opted in to a campaign. Then you need to work with the business owner to see what all they have been doing to promote SMS opt-ins. Additionally, you will want to work with the business owners to see how many people redeemed a mobile coupon that you sent out via SMS. Most business owners can add a coupon code into their POS System (cash register) and track how many were redeemed.

Is it possible to add google analytics to mobile optimized websites, how would I go about doing that is it basically the same as using analytics for normal html website?

  track the phone calls with a service like vumber.com
  
  like ben said do a coupon code of some sort.. analytics is a great way.. to see if they are getting traffic to their websites.. just enter in the analytics code to verify it.
  
  also tell the client to ask: where did you hear/find us from?
  
  also you didn't ask this but make sure your client has a solid idea of how much each client is worth to them over time... this way they will unconsciously add up the value of your services which means they will keep your services longer..

When you track results of your marketing activities, you can use these results to improve your results.

Your past results will also help you determine how grow your business.

Specifically, based on these results, you can estimate the number of referrals you can reasonably expect and how many new clients you must generate through prospecting.
