Your Thoughts.. In-House Team or Virtual Outsource?

Hi, again..

Quick question, I know that I might be getting a little ahead of myself here but my aim is to big in offline and to help out as many businesses get more value and big profits from my offline services so that in future my business will be spread more of word of mouth so less cold calling etc, not that I have started cold calling yet but will get to it...

Anyway my thoughts are to have within the next 6 months of this business growing steadily is to get my own in house team of experts in web-design, graphic design, seo, cold callers, sales people etc and have them all under one roof in stead of outsourcing all of the work virtually.

What are your thoughts on this give me the PRO's and CON's

PRO - Can keep an eye on workers
PRO - Can adjust there and then to clients specifications
PRO - Can communicate better as in same time zone

CON - More expensive
CON - Time consuming training

I am a firm believer in keeping it all in-house. If you can hire the people to do the work, and do it right and good, then hire the people needed. When I started I had to much work for just myself and outsourced alot. It was a good experience however it was to much work to try and keep track of the outsourced work. I eventually brought it all in-house. Yes, it is more expensive, but I believe it is worth it to provide jobs to my local community. Right now, after almost 6 years in business, I have about 17 people working for me in a moderate sized city. Its worth it to be able to be involved in all of it and be able to have meetings and updates when needed. my 2 cents.

      Exactly my thinking also...

I also see it beneficial that if through time I build an in house team then I would be able to step back if I needed to take time off for any reason because at the moment I wouldn't have any free time for anything which I have no complaints about as I want to grow my business to be fantastic.

I would recommend a combination of the two. Hire somebody in-house who you can watch over and who can do a lot of the work. But it is always good to have a solid team of outsourcers in case you get really busy or for work that doesn't make sense paying somebody in-house to do.

For example, you can have an in-house person manage an SEO campaign for a client, but when it comes to specific link building strategies, it isn't the best use of funds to have your in-house person do that dirty work. Outsource that and have your in-house person manage the outsourcing process.

I personally use both in-house and outsource and have found that it is a good combination to grow your business, yet still be able to keep an eye things and have somebody local who is accountable.
