Google Places Fix For the Dreaded 'We currently do not support this location'

I came across this problem and have also come across a solution.

Save this info in case you or your clients are ever affected.

If you currently have your own offline business or are an offline consultant offering Google Places services then there is a high chance you may come across this:

1) Your Google Places Account shows as 'Active' in your Google Places account
2) However, your listing has disappeared in Google.
3) Although it shows as 'Active' in your Google Places Account, when you click to view your listing from within your Google Places Account it comes up with the dreaded:

'We do not currently support this location'

This just happened to one of my clients. When this occurs with a new listing it usually fixes itself within 48 hours. However, when it happens to long established listings it confuses even the best experts in the field as google gives no real reason. It certainly has nothing to do with the actual location 99% of the time.

Well, here's the FIX - SAVE IT

1. Go into the Google Place account containing the “unsupported” location.

2. Click the name of the entry and select 'Open in a New Tab'. This opens the analytics site of the entry opened. URL should look like this:
http://www.google.com/local/add/analytics?storeid=[the numbered Place identifier]&hl=en&gl=US

3. Now enter any content into the field below the line “Share an update on your place page” and hit the button Share” to publish the new content.

This fixes the problem and your listing will be back on Google within 5 minutes (usually less). It has happened to me many times and this always fixes it.

Hope this helps.
