Combing set up fee with automatic monthly billing in one payment?

Hello all

I'm right at the final stages of getting my business prepared and I was hoping to go live with my first cold calling session today but am very frustrated trying to figure out the best option to receive payments. I've signed up for paypal's enhanced automatic billing but come to find out I can't just send an invoice, I have to manually insert the button that I create into a seperate email from the invoice.

This is not a deal breaker but I don't believe I can even send them to one payment page for the one time set up fee and the monthly recurring billing payments. Does anybody have any advice at all on this?

Thanks so much in advance

    Hi B and B!

I use alertpay.com for this. Easily create a recurring button with onceoff setup billing.

It is a website button though, never used it in an email. I just send my customers an email with a link to my payment page that I have set up on my website.

OMG do NOT use Alertpay unless you want to lose a client. They are the slowest, most aggravating payment solution I've ever used. Only good for billing paying PTC and MLM users.

Thanks for the reply origin. I'll have to check it out.

By the way, I was in Johannesburg last summer for the World Cup. You live in a beautiful country!

Thanks Jerry, I appreciate the help. Has anyone tried Snapbill? Looks pretty convenient from the outside.

Yeah, i keep hearing from sources over the internet that PayPal HATES Internet Marketers and Network Marketers when accepting payments.

Not sure if there is any validity or truth to that, but I was going to set up my account with Alert Pay.

I have run into that problem with Paypal as well and I called them up to see what, if anything, I could do about it. I was told to set it up as a subscription. With the subscriptions you have the option to offer a 30 day trial. And you have it if you got the recurring billing plan because I do too. What you do is with the 30 day trial period you charge your lump sum amount and then after the 30 days has passed it will go on to the regular monthly charge and charge them automatically. The only drawback to it is that with the subscription service, the monthly billing amount can never change, so if you are offering a service like SMS where there will be overages and adjustments to be made, you would have to bill your overages separately.
Hope that helps but I am also going to check out some of the other places that were suggested.

    B and B,

I use Intuit GoPayment (Intuit GoPayment – iPhone credit card processing for mobile payments). I did a lot of research but went with them for a few reasons:

    1) It integrates seamlessly with QuickBooks, which will make account a breeze.
    2) You can swipe a client credit card (for their initial fee) directly on your smartphone
    3) They make managing recurring payments extremely easy.

Personally, I find PayPal to be a little cheap looking if you are getting clients, and being able to take the card directly on your smartphone makes it very easy to get paid right on the spot (and know if they were approved or declined instantly).

I hope this helps and best of luck making your cold calls. Go get 'em!!

    -Ben

It never stops amazing how much help I can find on this forum. Thanks a lot.

I think I'll stick with Paypal for now and try and make it work. Nothing else is really jumping out at me. I just wish it were more convenient, I'm really surprised at how difficult it is to just invoice someone and get automatic billing through a one time email!

NEVER build your business around a 3rd party processor like paypal. They aren't a real merchant account, get a real merchant account. With authorize.net gateway you will be able to set up recurring payments and enter it all in over the phone.

I would just like to have a button on my site where people can sign up through.
