OpenVBX Short codes $4,000
Thought it was kind of odd that Twilio promotes short codes as SMS marketing numbers but doesn't say the same about local numbers.
Below is what they have to say on their site.

Personally short codes fall short for me in many ways and I sure wouldn't pay more than $20 for one but they are 4000 times the price of locals...

I personally think they are 4000X the price and 4000X the trouble.
