How do you actually create a mock up mobile site to show your target clients?

Most people actually build/design the first page. I think you should expand your question an ask the forum, has anybody discovered a cheap, fast way to mock up mobiles?

    Qamar,

    Check out this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...al-market.html

There's a goldmine of information regarding mobile sites and marketing in there.

A mockup site shouldn't take long as you are just creating the 1 page to show them what it would look like on a mobile site. There's no need to invest a lot of time into it as you're not even sure whether the prospect will turn into a client. I personally show them the main page and the directions page so that they can see how the map and directions work so their customers can quickly and easily find them. You can use Quentin's or WillR's product to create the 1 page mockup. I also print out a side-by-side screenshot comparison with what their current site looks like on a cell phone and a screenshot of the mobile mockup. You can use a simulator to do the screenshots. That way they can see on paper the difference as well.

When you meet with them then show them a live demonstration of their current site and the mobile mockup. Make sure you sell the benefits to them as well, other than just showing them how nice the mobile mockup looks. Most business owners don't understand the importance of having a mobile site, so it's important to show them how it will benefit their business in the long run.

You can do it either two ways - you can just create an image only mock up which is just an image representation of how the design of their mobile site could look on an iPhone OR you could create an actual demo homepage for them.

Another option which is something I prefer to do is just create one or two mock-up sites per industry. So if you are going to be targeting a load of restaurants then you simply create one or two fully functional mobile restaurant websites you can show potential clients. This way you don't have to waste your time creating demo sites for each and every client you visit.

One of the easiest ways to do this is show them the mock up site and then, if they seem interested, offer to do a customized demo version for their own business. This way you are only spending time creating the demo sites for those business owners who seem genuinely interested.

We have 6 or so templates that have all the basic functions that we can then add their logo and change the colors in minutes and then show the client.

      Exactly.

There is no right or wrong way to do it. However you decide to do it, it's going to take you 5 minutes or so regardless. You can't get around the fact you need to get their logo and save it as an image and size you can use and then insert that into a template. You will get faster at doing them the more practice you have.
