Excuse me folks....for bringing up another one of my "Ad Programs". I don't want it to seem like I'm over-doing my stay here.

I LOVE what I do....and....especially NOWadays....when UN-employment is SKY-HIGH and we've got a "Socialist GUMMIT" (My Opinion) trying to turn our country into a "2nd Class DE-Pendent Nation".

I've done a LOT of "Stuff" in my days and I'm STILL doing "My Kinda Stuff"...which is....Finding different ways to HELP local businesses get Exposure....to their businesses....and....help people who are "just-getting by" or...."OUT-Of-Work" and Collecting or NOT collecting.... UN-employment.

In an earlier post today (Sunday, 9-4-2011) I told about "Applying QR Codes" to Placemats and Pizza Box Flyers....(and previously, I told about using QR Codes on TV Channel Guides in Hotel Rooms and on Coffee Sleeves.

well....

I got another one for ya'. In my efforts to try and help out many of my old contacts who are in need of some "Money-Making" ideas....I dug one out of my Archives and UP-dated it with QR Codes....and gave it to an old buddy.

Here's what it is; The bext time you drive into a gas station....take a look at what's ON TOP of the pump you're at. Is there a Stand holding an AD?

Probably! Most are ads for the Gasolene Co or Distributor. Well...some of these stations are owned by INdependents....who will allow individuals (like me and you)....to place a Stand on top of their Pumps.

These Stands can hold an 11 by 17 wide AD SHEET for businesss that PAY to be SEEN by every driver who comes to THAT Pump!

Well...a few yrs ago....I did a bunch of these (see photo below)...then showed others how to duplicate what I was doing...so a whole bunch of people ....made some Serious Money.

Now....UPDate to 2011 where QR Codes are Hot and Getting Hotter.

What if you drive up to a Gas Pump and see an Ad for a local Insurance Biz (or a local auto dealer or Auto Parts Store or Tire Dealer or Auto Repair Shop or Brake Shop or Window Repair Shop)....and....get ready...HERE it comes....what if there was a QR Code on the Ad on the Display on top of the Pump?

If the Ad said somethng like; "Scan For a Special Deal!"

Would YOU whip out your Smart-Phone and scan it in to see WHAT the deal was? Well...maybe YOU wouldn't but....lots of others would!

And...one of my old sales buddies phoned me this afternoon and told me he finished his 6th station with an average of 4 to 6 Pumps per station....and he is SITTIN' PRETTY...FINANCIALLY!

All it took was to;
1) Make up a Sample Ad (I suggest 1 Ad per side, although he did put 2 biznesses on a side with one station)
2) Add the QR Code and print it out (I had my techie do that for him)
3) Get a Display from my display source and put the printout in the display
4) Go to some UNdependent Station Owners....show the Sample and ask if you could place the Display ON Top of HIS Pumps (
The Station Owner is either gonna say, Yay! or Nay!)
5) Go to some local businesses that have something to do with "Vehicles"...tell them how many Pumps you can place THEIR ADS on and...WHALA!....You've got a NICE Steady Income comin' in!

Note: I'm NOT "selling" anything here...nor am I offering "consultation". Just take the "Info" and do the research and make up a Sample and give it a try. I'm also including 2 photos of Samples to show what I'm talking about.

Thanks for reading...and I hope I've given some "Inspiration" to someone here.

    I'd like to add something to this post that I Think is very important to "Success with QR Codes";

"Mobile Marketing" right now is RED Hot and getter Hotter. There's LOTS of people selling "Mobile" websites....however....what I've always done is....look for a REASON WHY a business should use MY Service....rather than someone else's.

    So....in looking at the "Mobile Website" biz I noticed something;
ALL those who were selling "Mobile Websites" were doing ONE THING....

...offering to make a "Mobile Site" for a biz and leave it up to the bizness to promote their own site....letting the person who set up the Mobile Site...use some "BackLink" and SEO Talent....so the new Mobile Site CAN BE FOUND by Phone Users doing a Search.

And...maybe the biz with the new Mobile Site can add a Qr Code in their ads....HOWEVER.....(get ready)....

...It's UP TO THE BIZ OWNER to PROMOTE HIS MOBILE SITE!

So....rather than leave it up to biz owners to promote their sites....what I do is....

....Sell PROGRAMS that promote my client's Mobile Sites!....so MY clients buy...Not Just a Mobile Site BUT....a Promotion Program that goes with it!

The above program....Placing QrCodes on Pump Top Display Ads....is a unique and POWERFUL program for advertising my clients Mobile Sites.

It's a PROGRAM for bringing TRAFFIC to Mobile Sites! They can still do their own promotion of their new Mobile Site.

So....when I started out with "Mobile Sites'....and my prospects would tell me they had just gotten a quote from X Company for doing their Mobile Site and...."COULD I MATCH THEIR PRICE!" (I "shout" for "emphasis" not for blowing out your ears!)

When I heard this a couple of times I said to myself; "Self! What can YOU offer that others aren't offering?" So....I remembered what I DO, I put together "Marketing Programs" that are designed to BRING CUSTOMERS to my clients.

    So....I NEVER compete on "Price"!

Nowadays when a Prospect says; "Oh! We've go a quote from X Co for x$! Can you beat this price?"

I then explain that I am offering a "Marketing Program" and NOT just a "Mobile Site".....so MY quote is Higher and....designed to Increase Bizness.

This is why I can get MY SHare of the market....I am NOT comparing "Apples for Apples"! I offer....luscious tasting "Pomegranates compared to Grapes".

      Wow Don...

You might want to add swami mind reader to your title.

What you wrote here in these posts are just what I've been thinking.

And I think you're absolutely correct when you say that when people are selling mobile websites that they should offer more than just a site and a few services, and instead offer a program that can also bring them traffic so that they can see immediate benefits from their site. I usually recommend that you have a way to let them see sales coming in within 30 days or less. If they continue to keep paying for your services and not see any new sales coming in then they will start having doubts about their decision.

I had a friend who was selling mobile websites ask me how could he get better sales numbers because although he was making sales, he felt that he should be making more.

So I told him that he shouldn't just sell mobile websites, that he should also offer them marketing strategies and tactics to go along with it because no one is really offering that.

As I like to say, you'll make your services more valuable if you make it a system instead of just a website. People will pay more and will want to give it a try if they can see the end result.

When you are selling a mobile site, your potential buyers can't see the end result. They see the site...but now what?

How do I market this stuff?

Where do I market my new qr codes?

If you can add to your program how to not only get set up but also how they can finally see money coming in from it as well through some sort of program or system that you will set up for them then....

      Bingo!

      You'll have a loyal customer.

It's these kind of thoughts that I have been having that has brought on some other ideas.

Like having a place for any and everything that deals with mobile marketing. I love the warrior forum of course, however I see a need for a site dedicated to mobile marketing.

And I was actually going to post my thoughts about partnering with some of the warriors here to set up something that would be more along the lines of teaching mobile marketing. Not really looking for just a one time product to offer. By teaching it, as the market shifts and new and different things come into the market, it could be easily adopted and taught as opposed to having to re-do a product. I want to offer what's working now. Tactics and strategies that after reading you could go out and use and start seeing results.

      Anyhow....

I still will make the post about it.

Thanks Don for sharing what I was thinking.

when I drive into petrol (gas) stations at least here in the UK they suggest we turn our mobiles off, is it different in the US then or does everyone just ignore it?
Serious question , in no way knocking the idea.

QR codes can go anywhere that ads are currently showing and millions of places they're not showing , its how they are then used that can make the massive difference.

Haven't heard of anywhere in USofA where gas stations are asking to "turn off your Mobile Phones".

Maybe someone in the UK (paid to do research via a Gummit Grant) found a way to ignite gas pumps with a Phone.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if that doesn't happen here too....soon.....with our Socialist Gummit (imho) looking for ways to Control and Limit our everyday activities.

        Actually Don,

I have seen these little signs here in the u.s.a. on some pumps..not all

They are sometimes placed on the pumps themselves in tiny writing.

It's not real obvious in most cases.

But they usually refer to cell phones causing a fire by igniting fumes.

        I admit...I'm guilty.

I did see it...and I didn't turn off my cell phone.

        Shame on me.

        Hey Don,

Next time you fill up with gas, read the caution statement on the pump. You know, the one everyone ignores? Chances are it will say something about not using your mobile phone while pumping gas.

And, somehow, I don't think posting a warning about dangers inherent while pumping gas is "Socialist Gummint" at work. Probably just some company not wanting to get sued.

Yes I can confirm that in the UK there are signs at petrol stations telling users not to use their mobile phones. It's a bit over the top on health and safety but a mobile phone can actually cause an explosion at a petrol station as they can omit a spark. Or atleast the older ones did

I've seen those signs that say turn off your mobile phones and did wonder about that when they also promote text a number to get X or show a QR Code.

      Lol...

angmoore..I saw a pump that said turn off your cell phone. Then on the top of it was an ad that said text to win. It was for dorito's. Then it also had a QR code on it as well.

      Talk about sending mixed signals

    Don,

This is another great idea from you! When I was in Europe, I saw all the signs saying to turn off your cell phone and I guess it's because there was an incident where a cell phone caused an explosion. Haven't seen them in Oregon though...

A gas station is a great place for a QR Code-- you are already sitting in your car doing nothing-- it gives people something to do while their car is filling up and can be a great advertising method.

Thanks for always sharing your ideas!!

Just think of places where people have to sit and wait for periods of time, and try to place your codes in those places.

After my term in the Navy, while in college, i worked at a full service gas station.

Yes cell Phone Radio emissions CAN ignite fuel. (however it has to be highly volatile Jet Fuel or Rocket propellant.) The studies for fuel safety were done by Military Contractors and used military fuels to establish regulations for aircraft refueling.

Auto Fuel vapors are not volatile enough to ignite from radio emissions, you need a spark or open flame. Ref: multiple MythBusters episodes --> Discovery.com

That being said, you SHOULD turn off your vehicle.

    A couple of reasons for this;

    1) modern auto electronics use the cut-off cycle to reset. If you fuel up while the car is running, when you get back in, your car may still register Empty. (Found this out when customers complained that the attendant charged them, but never fueled up the car.)

    2) If the car is running and you check fluids (like the manual says you should) your measurements are going to be wrong.

True Story: A customer fueling up his Brand new, less than 100 miles, Jaguar tested his OIL at the station I was working at. With the engine running, the dipstick showed no oil in the pan, with the oil pump running, all of the oil was actually up in the engine block, not down in the pan.

He purchased 4 quarts (the recommended amount) and proceeded to try to TOP OFF the oil fill, which was on the top of the engine. The engine being full already, didn't take to kindly to this and sprayed oil all over the engine compartment, including the exhaust manifold.

The manifold, being superheated by the running engine turned this into a thick smoke which drifted over the car and across the distributor cap which ignited the prettiest red/orange flame all the way back to the oil fill opening, which was still spewing oil.

When the operating attendant finally doused the engine with the fire extinguisher (bright white Potassium Powder all over oil and BLACK Jaguar.) the customer was LIVID!

A good healthy dose of Potassium went right into the oil fill opening and proceeded to to turn the oil into something akin to epoxy glue.

After a bit of argument, the man paid for the fuel that was pumped and pulled about three car lengths away from the pump when the engine finally went *CHUG*...

I felt sorry for the old lady IN the car, because AFTER being terrified by the smoke, flames, and white powder flashing out of the engine and up across the windshield while she sat in the passenger seat, she had to wait in the car with the irate old man, 30 minutes before the tow truck hauled them and the now defunct, less than 100 miles, brand new Jaguar away to a mechanic.
