Best QR code Generator?

When it comes to Qr code generators, its a jungle out there, lol! Especially trying to figure out what each generator can do and then on top of that, is it suitable for commercial use?

I must say I am lost. There are paid ones, free ones, personal and commercial use. Then, what can they do etc. etc. If anyone can guide me to, ideally a FREE generator for use, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance, Eva

This is the one I use:

QR Code Generator - create QR Codes online [business card, t-shirt, mug, 2D barcode, generate QR-Code] - goQR.me

After I get the generated qr code I add design elements with photshop and thats it.

Here's a qr code I made using that site and after that photoshop:

  • Is there a free one available that lets you re-use and redirect the same QR code?

We use QRstuff to generate our clients codes for customizing. We also offer a dirt cheap account that allows you to make Dynamic URLs so you can re-use and redirect the same short dynamic URL to different long form URLs. You can take our Dynamic URL and create a QR code with it so the QR code's destination is changeable. Our short dynamic URLs can also generate a QR code by putting .qr at the end of the URL in your address bar. Example: http://qrlc.us/3gykz is the dynamic URL and to generate QR on the fly you would go to http://qrlc.us/3gykz.qr <---hope this makes sense.

If you want free for commercial use, I hate being tacky but the one I coded here : QR Code Generator uses the Google Charts API and their page state that images generated from their API can be used for commercial use.

    Infographics - Google Code

Completely free for all uses: commercial, governmental, personal or educational.

I've found that Kaywa (QR-Code Generator) is the most simple one to use and is what I personally use to generate QR Codes.

There are a lot of choices out there, but one thing to be careful of is that the QR Code that gets created doesn't run through somebody else's service. In my opinion this looks bad for you if a client sees that the URL redirect is going through another service rather than straight to the mobile site.

There are some advantages in tracking and getting analytics by using external services, but I've found that installing Google Analytics on the mobile site is a great way to get the information and not be directed through a potential competitor of yours who most likely has a full blown QR Code platform built.

    Just my thoughts...

Well, I've checked them out before and then it said "non-commercial use only". Clicking your link, it says right under the window, "non-commercial use only".So, if I try to understand this, you can NOT use their generator if you plan to make QR codes for other businesses, right?

If you do, can someone fill me in on what would actually happen? Will the QR code stop working? Will they find you and fine you? Or, what would they do?

If I am going to put myself out there, I want to make sure that the tools I use are legal and that they will not give me a massive headache down the line. Over-cautious? No, I don't think so but I might be wrong .

If you are using QR Codes at all for business you should be using tracking software to see who is scanning your code and what pages they are going to.

Also if you use tracking software you can change the url in the code and much more.

    http://trakqrc.com/admin/signup.php

You can use this one to track QR Codes and give your customers login so they have their own account for the stats.

Always a step ahead of the pack, Quentin, lol!

So, for us "underlings", could you please explain how to get your own and how the whole thing works? Especially the part including "a heap of work".

      Thank you in advance, Eva

  • Do you sell the QR codes - or give them the tool as a draw to your site to attract other business?

There are different schools of thought on that -

No, not planning to sell them as a single object (unless they are custom made with a logo/color included, maybe then...). More like just one QR code, directing people to a directory of sorts, i.e. shopping, one code, restaurants, one code, looking for a rental, one code and so forth. Not quite sure yet, depends on demand.

  • I'm still trying to find a quick n EZ way to create Dynamic QR codes...

I have checked lafleurcreative's suggestion and looked at QRlicious - looks best so far.

Dr. Paul suggested WCS QR code generator - again good, but is that a dynamic generator?
it did not look to be...

Bee Tagg looks pretty good too...

    Has anyone tried Squarecode?

Or...Is there another easy way to create a dynamic code by parking it on a redirect and changing the info?

I would like to use it for myself as well as clients - and maybe a billboard.

Are there others someone can recommend ? low cost is great - FREE is Best!

I was going to put this in the new mobile section, but was reluctant to start a new thread...

As always - thanks for all the help!

I like QR champ. (Jason Fladlin.) Not only do the codes print well and can be shrunken or enlarged to whatever size, it also has great tracking.

Lets say you make 50 QR codes for 50 campaigns all going to the same site. It tracks how many times each one was scanned so you can really see where they are most effective.

There are lots of QR code generators hanging out there, but still some of us doesn't know how to spot the best one. QR Code Generators are created equal and designed to generate codes, but only few of them can provide the best features to their users. And based on my research, TAGOmobile.com can provide the best service. Users can create 20 different types of 2d barcodes, also enable the user to modify and re-link the QR codes created anytime. TAGOmobile has real-time tracking features as well, that enable the user to track all scanned codes to measure the success of the QR code campaign.

TAGOmobile also offers free and paid options good for both personal and commercial use. Would be good if you try them out now at TAGOmobile.com
