Multiple Competitor Places Listings

How are you guys handling this?

The 2 competitors in my client's area have 2 and 3 places listings, separate places pages to be exact.

I'm not overly concerned with beating them out, but want to know what others are doing in this case.

There is a "report a problem" button at the bottom of the places listings, and one of the possible checkmarks is for "multiple listings for the same location"

Anybody reporting it?

    There are 2 ways to have the tallest building.

    You can build your own building (business) and make it higher or you can tear down the other buildings.

    Your character will determine how you handle it. That same character will also determine how other business want to deal with you.

      Hey Greg,

      Love the way you put it, and it's the conclusion I came to.

      I'd rather focus on building my client's and my own business better than wasting my time focusing on what others are doing improperly and being a tattle tale.

        you're misunderstanding the situation i think...

        The fact that there are multiple listings of the same business is not a forced error on the businesses part, its because of googles algorythym for pulling in data.

        But it actually PENALIZES the business owner for this and wont give the business as good as ranking if it only had one listing.

        the report a problem is something the business owner should be submitting to in attempt to get the other places listings removed.

        but ya, in general, dont worry about what everyone else is doing.

    I wouldn't worry about the competition - just focus on your client and get them more links and citations.
