Client Wants One Site - Multiple Locations - Advice Needed

I am working with a potential client (attorney) and he has two offices in two separate cities and one website. I put together a package for a second website and two Google Places listings. He wants to keep one website and optimize it for both locations and also more locations in the future.

How would you go about this?

I appreciate any/all help

Thank you!

Depends exactly what he wants but either a page optimised for each office, or a subdomain spring to mind. Possibly a blog with each office as a separate category?

    Thank you Tony!

I was thinking of a sub-domain. Can I rank 2 Google Places listing (2 different cities) with one website?

    This is new to me.

    Thanks again

You should be able to do this without any problems. Think about chain restaurants... most McDonalds Places listings refer back to the corporate website so you have thousands of Place listings all tied to one website.

Just make sure you include the information for both offices on his website and be sure that you build plenty of citations for both offices.

Yes, just set up a listing for each office, same website (or separate sub-domains)

back to the original question - You could, install wordpress on each sub-domain and then do, whatever you like with each installation. Personally a page for each office makes more sense to me.

Try to clarify what they want first and then get an action plan/quote agreed before you move forward.

In fact, forget about the website for now. Just meet with them again and ask them about their marketing and what they want to achieve - a website, or website development might not be the answer.

      Good luck

Hey Tony, sorry to bring up an old issue, but I have an initial consultation scheduled and I was wondering what you meant by forgetting about the website. Isn't having an online presence crucial?

To SEO a website in multiple locations, a subdomain acts as its own real domain, which may not be exactly what you want to do. If there is still any PR bonus to a domain, a sub domain is not included in that. You should then do yourdomain.com/other-city-name If the competition is low enough, it shouldn't matter either way!

crap just realized this was an old post

Is the website a wordpress site? You could do multi sites (2) with a domain mapping and have 2 close to identical websites. 1 for each city
