Anyone here cold call leads for MLM/Network Marketing?

Most cold calling forums seem to be about B2B cold calling for Internet Services. Anyone do a lot of cold calling for opt in leads or survey leads for your business opportunity?

Love to hear tips, techniques or scripts you utilize.

Best Regards,

Arthur

I personally stay away from MLM and Network Marketing because I feel most of those programs are a little shady. They sell the dream, but in reality the only people making good money from MLM programs are the ones who create it.

A neighbor of mine made a FORTUNE from starting an MLM company that sells magnetic bracelets that supposedly have healing powers, but all of his claims are completely unsubstantiated. He still has an army of people that sell his products and his business opportunity to others looking to improve their lives. It just so happens that a lot of the folks who buy into his business opportunity are also the ones buying the magnetic bracelets. It's snake oil if you ask me...

I also see that ACN is a big network marketing group because video chat is the wave of the future. Apparently none of the people selling ACN have heard of Skype, which is free.

Anyway, in terms of answering your question about cold calling for these types of things, I think the same thing holds true that I always recommend-- call with the sole purpose of getting a meeting or an appointment. Don't try to sell directly over the phone because your response rate will be many, many times lower.

Thanks. Actually my boss of a real estate company I worked for his brother's name is Jeff Webber who is a top producer at ACN, and he does kind of accentuate the claim he makes, although he is making 70,000/mo income.

In my experience MLM is not a good business model. i have been there and done that!
Things like finding downline, doing "house party" to educate and recruit downlines, continuos buying of products to maintain bonus points etc....drained all my energy.

But the worse part is, my friends shy away from me when they saw my shadow from afar.....

Not being bias, nothing beats being your OWN boss doing online and offline marketing. It's pure bliss as compared to MLM. Sorry don't mean to disappoint you just speaking from experience.

Yes there people who can make tons of money doing MLM, but most of the MLM marketers are suffering just to earn a few bucks.

I appreciate your opinion on how you don't like the business model of MLM/Network Marketing, but the purpose of this thread was to see if anyone has had any success cold calling leads and what tactics they may have used.

I have no problem with MLM/Network Marketing although I don't personally participate in the industry right now. First let me say I think there would be better forums to ask this question and get the answers that could help you best. There are forums specific to MLM/Network Marketing where as this forum... is not I don't think.

But to answer your question, it depends on where the lead comes from. I don't know much about survey leads, but I'll give you a few tips on opt-in leads. I'm assuming opt-in leads means they opted in to get more information from you. So technically this is not really a "cold call". And before I give you this outline, know that it came from a guy making about $30K per month in MLM/Network Marketing, BUT I'm posting it here because I believe offline marketers could take a few nuggets from it, not necessarily for cold calling but for face to face meetings with business owners.

First things First: ASK QUESTIONS & LISTEN (Basic Business/Communication Principle)

Do not bring up what you want to tell them about... UNTIL YOU KNOW HOW IT CAN HELP THEM GET WHAT THEY WANT.

So you'd start off something like, "How are you? What can I do for you?" Then let them answer.

Most times you'll have to dig deeper, "What specifically are you looking for?" i.e. What income are they looking for? What will that do for them? Why is that? What would that give you that you don't have now? and let them answer.

Then once you know their answer, ask "So if I could show you how to [insert their answer here], is there anything else you'd need to know before you got started?"

If they haven't seen your presentation/proposal yet at this point then you'd show it to them. Once they've seen it you ask them what they like best about what they saw and WHY, then you'd say something like, "Do you see how working with our team we can help you [insert their answer here]"

At this point they're either with you or not, they'll either give you a negative reaction or a positive reaction. With a negative reaction move on to the next person.

If they're still pretty positive and seem to be going along with you then the magic "closing" phrase "Sounds like you're ready to get started"

Of course you need to put all that into your own words using your own personality, but its an outline that works.

Awesome stuff, Conrad! Yeah, I should probably not ask MLM specific questions on warrior forum. Dani Johnson has similar teaching methods I will start implementing as well.

I'll give you a thanks for your help

Check out Todd Falcone's stuff, especially his "Little Black Book of Scripts". Good stuff and shows how to cold call for MLM business in a very professional and effective manner.. especially when recruiting other sales professionals, realtors, insurance sales, mortgage people into an MLM...

        Cheers!

Since you are on the WF asking how to build an MLM biz....

Well, you've received a lot of good advice here already.

Here's the real problem with cold calling purchased leads. Say, you decide to tough it out and get really, really good at it. Your personal sales are consistently high. Will you teach your team to do what you do? Do you think they will cold call? Un-friggin-likely. So instead of building a business, you're working as a sales person for the company on a very low commission.

I love Dani Johnson's stuff. Her scripts are great and her teaching style is very entertaining. (Todd's no slouch either.) The trouble with generic biz opp leads is that they have received 200 phone calls from other MLMers before you get to them. They are tired, angry, and don't want to talk to anyone.

Instead, how about using the knowledge you can acquire on WF to generate your own leads, exclusive only to you? Since you will be the only person calling them, many of them will actually want to talk to you. Once you have more leads than you can call yourself, you can run an "ad co-op" for your team and you mates get exclusive leads from you that they can call. A few people will also want to learn how you generate these leads, and that's how it will start duplicating.

Good idea. I just am very green to IM, and am trying to absorb as much information. The idea of getting my own website up is pretty scary.

If you are not doing it already I would suggest using the information gained here on the forum to set up systems to generate your own leads. Good luck to you, it takes a special kind of person to lift that 10,000 pound gorilla known as the phone

TGArthur, this is also something we are working on. I have found ideas and methods or tactics here and there for both online and offline. As one had put it, first make contact and get as much information as you can from the key decision maker or someone close to the DM.Then build rapport or trust and start asking questions. At this point you should determine if your prospect is ready for you to present or demonstrate and finally close.

My brother has been a successful MLMr for ten years... Works best with classified ads and a "pre-sell" recorded messege.... He places a classified ad, or also interstate signs...people call in and leave messages, he calls them back, chats them up, qualifies them... and schedules an appointment for one of his downline to go close them. I dont know if MLM works or not, but I know he has two houses, a new mercedes, a trophy wife, and a 6 figure income.

like everyone else, i also tried mlm back in the day. i however did it on the phone. i had pretty decent success after i got the sale to to get them to 3 way call a few of there friends and introduce me, and i would try and sell them too. and of course they said yes, because technically i was building their down line. mlm is such a rough , rough road.

if you have what it takes to be even semi successful @ mlm, then you have what it takes to be wildley successful doing any type off offline marketing.

If you are thinking about your downline making bank for you, in the IM world it translates to JV , and VA. which is a lot more effective and reliable.

      just my 2 cents.

If I could convince my brother of that FACT, with his talent, then we would make a million dollars per month together probably. He says it wont work with OFFLINE because there arent enough "levels".

Okay so I am not against MLM and I do it. I am will tell you this, having a good script helps, but calling leads can be a real shady business. I am only saying this because some of the lead companies out there sell there leads more than 10 times. That means that when you call your lead they may have been pitched 9 times before you. And these are some of the more "reputable" companies.

I do know of some really good ways to generate leads online and this is something that I would recommend that you definitely learn. That way when you get a lead you can qualify whether they are going to be good for your business op or not. Also you will need to have presentation to send them to online.

Not sure if you can dm or not, but leave me a message if you could use a little more advice on my page by clicking on my name on the side. I would be happy to email you with some of my experiences and resources.

I believe all residual income rocks. =D

Okay, this is perfect! Scary, huh? I bet I can change your mind about that in less than 5 minutes but first you have to pretend your mind is like a parachute. It only functions when opened, so open your mind and see if you're ready to start a real, long-term business or not.

This is not an ordinary website, it's the same online business platform web design firms use to build sites for their Fortune 500 clients and they pay thousands for the pleasure of getting it all done for them. People are just too afraid to find out how easy it really is but that would be counter-productive for most businesses anyway because they don't have anyone with that job description.

They just pay web designer's bill and it's all done - expensive but cheaper in the long run. Still reading this? Okay, good. Look for the link that by-passes the paypal page and you can get in FREE - that way you won't think you're wasting your time and I won't get accused of anything subversive.

Fun Exercise: Your sixth sense will tell you "that's it" when you see it, just like it always tells you what you know. Practice listening to that voice from now on, no matter what and guess what will happen? First, you'll lose 2-3 friends because they won't like the "new you" anymore but you'll gain a few zeros in your bank account so who cares?

I retired in 2005 at 43 and now I give away websites like these for FREE [hosting excluded]

When you make at least $100+ per month, we split the profit 80/20 and YOU get the 80% Until then, you keep 100% and I'll help you drive traffic, get backlinks and put the domain in your name too!
