Excellent post B and B, its refreshing to see someone share a story such as this - all you need to do is apply yourself consistently, and things will start to happen.

A very well done on your success to date, please keep us updated with your ongoing successes!

May I ask - have you considered offering additional services AFTER you have sold them on the mobile site? Im sure you could have a few upsells up your sleeve? SEO, lead gen, social media, email marketing?

Thank you jstef. Yes I do offer many other services however I'm still a bit raw when it comes to the sales process. I guess I'm having trouble deciding when to offer an upsell. Since it's mobile websites and all hosting is done on their servers that they already have, I can see myself already losing contact with these business owners. I know this has to be fixed sooner rather than later. I have them on an email list but I'm not sure how effective an email campaign will be with them. Time will tell.

I guess I just have a hard time saying "thanks for your money, now can I sell you something else?" Obviously I know that it should come more naturally than that and that I NEED to maximize all profits so I guess I'm chalking it up to something that I'm working on. Ideally I would sell them text messaging so that I can get a monthly passive income stream so I'll have to figure out how to incorporate that into my sales process.

      1. It doesn't sound like you're that raw to me!!!
      2. It helps to believe you are providing them 10x more value than you are charging. Anything else they are getting from you is going to help them make a lot of money and build their business.
      3. Start asking a lot of questions about them and their business. The more you get them talking, the more the light bulbs will be going off in your head about which services to suggest.
      4. Outline or mindmap your sales process. It will help internalize it and make it flow better with your clients.
      Congratulations on your success!

Great job and good for you for taking action.

      Here's one idea for you.

After they are sold on the mobile site ask them how they like their main website. If their main site is bad I've found it an easy sell to a package of a main website, mobile site, and sometimes a facebook fanpage. So instead of $397 you are getting $797 or more.

There are a couple of wp themes that make creating a main site, mobile and FB fanpage a fairly quick process.

Well done and thanks for your inspirational experiences.

I like the fact that you schedule tasks in for a specific day and that becomes part of your practise.

Taking action...any sort of productive action...is the key.

    Good luck with your business.

Getting an appointment 1-6 calls is great.

Getting to talk to the owner/manager is the key to getting that kind of response.

What type of businesses are you going after?

    Congrats on your early success!

May I make a couple suggestions based on my own experiences that might help you elevate your results?

    I may? Great!

    1. Mondays and Fridays tend to be the worst days to call B2B. Monday, they're busy catching up after the weekend; Friday, they're trying to wrap up things before the weekend.

    2. Also, it tends to be easier to land appointments when you call in the mornings. Run your appointments mostly in the afternoons. Also, if you only call on Monday-Tuesday, you're bound to miss talking to some people who might be easier to reach Wed/Thu. That brings me to my next point . . .

    3. Don't schedule appointments for the same week you're calling, even if you have time. Reason? Positioning. People like to do business with busy, successful people. Book your appointments for at least a week away.

This is another reason, perhaps, to spread out your calling to more days of the week.

Hope it helps and keep on rockin'!

This is a great thread and is the exact thing I am thinking about embarking on starting in the next upcoming!

Great to hear you have had success already!

I started a thread about techniques, sales pitches and just all types of strategies when it comes to offering mobile website to potential clients. You can find the thread here.

It would be great if you wished to contribute any methods you used in the whole process which may benefit others.

      great thread!

been working on putting my offline business together which I hope to launch in the next few weeks, as the pool season dies down.

I'm actually in Seacoast NH so I'll try no to venture to far down into MA! haha

I am building a mobile site for my pool company now just playing around with Warrior Ben's theme.

I feel like getting in the door with mobile sites is the way to go, but you have so much more you can sell them. What you need to get the customer to realize is that their mobile site visits is fed by their main site's google rankings. If their main site is not ranking well the $400 the laid down for that slick mobile site won't bring them much business.

While in the process of selling the mobile site ask the owner questions about how his main site is performing? Is it generating leads? Is it easy for him to update himself? Is he linked to social media accounts, email list opt-ins?

In order for the mobile site you are selling him to help his business he/she really needs to have their whole online presence optimized to see real results.

Once you start thinking like that and beyond just making a website that looks good on mobile phones, the opportunity to expand you offerings and your business explode!

Thanks for the tips! I've thought about the Monday and Friday weekend effect before, I'll have to look into this some more and see if my numbers are down on those days and adjust if so. As far as calling in the morning, most of my target businesses don't open until 11 AM or so. Because of that I've been trying to tweak around my timing a bit as I don't want to inconvenience them during their rush hours (12-1:30 or so and 4-630 or so). Still trying to figure out the best schedule so I appreciate your advice.

Thanks for the advice. I've spent many summer weekends in Derry. Nothing better than a late night NH campfire!

Wow thanks for all of the feedback, I appreciate everyone's kind words and encouragement.

As far as businesses I'm targeting, right now it's mostly just take out pizza shops that already have a website. I plan on going after shops with no website and offering a discount on a main site and mobile site package once I get a bit more experience with Wordpress. I figure that if they have a website already then they must have SOME idea of technology and the power of mobile/internet marketing.

Man it is frustrating though running into some of those stubborn old school guys who look at you like you have 2 heads when you try to explain the difference between their regular site and a mobile version.
