You guys really seem to have some great info and ideas here at the warrior forums. I'm wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on how I could go about marketing my month-old massage business. My trade name is Weekend Massage as I'm available F-Sun for appointments only. I'm located inside of a hotel and am associated with a salon. The salon owner is who I rent my booth space from right across the hallway. I currently have no budget for marketing. Just started a job M-Thurs to make some money to help me grow my business.

  • Have you considered local larger companies to canvas for a "casual friday" special ?
    - maybe the company could use a massage and spa treatment as an incentive for their employees - I used to work for a company that had a massage person come in on fridays for people...or perhaps there is a sports facility or travel agency to cross promote with for the hotel - the agent works with a hotel/massage weekend special perk?

There are a ton of good suggestions for us offline marketers and it seems to me that you could use them on yourself, since you know enough to come here for the advice. SMS marketing, for example, might be something that you could use. Clever placement of QR codes. Placing one of those 5 x 7 or larger page holders in local businesses with the SMS and/or QR codes and a basic description of your services.

This isn't my area of expertise, but that was my first reaction and I thought I'd share. Best of luck to you!

Yeah what MoneyMagnetMagnate said is going to be one of your best ways of getting your name out there. I worked in a call center some years back and we had a massage therapist come in once a week too. So if you can get in with a company as an employee incentive that would be great.

You need to think about who you could partner up with. Who already has your customers? I guess you need to identify your customer first. And I'm sure you already know that your customer is not everybody. Then once you've identified your customer, think about where are they already spending money. Then go to those business owners they are already spending money with and propose a partnership or joint venture with them.

You could give them a piece of the pie or just a discount to their customers/clients. Why would they do this? Well obviously if you're giving them a piece of the pie its money they didn't have before for doing nothing except letting their customers/clients know about something that complements what they're already providing them. If it's just a discount you offer to their customers/clients, they get to look good to their customers/clients by getting them a great deal on a great service that compliments what they offer.

Another way to get out there is find some company in your area that offers a discount club or coupon book or something like that. Usually those are free to be a part of. If there isn't one in your area, maybe start one. That's beyond the scope of my answer here, but it's a possibility.

There's a thread somewhere on here talking about something called Keeper Cards where a guy made business cards for people with local discounts on the back so people would keep their business cards and not just throw them away. You could do that in your area and put your massage business as one of the discounts on the back.

Just a few ideas that hopefully can get your juices flowing.

It seems to me that if you are in a hotel then you've got a huge advantage. What can you do to get the hotel to promote you?
