Text Messaging for Realtors

Hi All:

As another facet of my text message marketing, I am starting text message marketing for real estate agents. You may have seen the signs in some areas - text "house 123" to a short code to get information on a house for sale. Then the information comes to your mobile phone with a link to a website for additional information & photo's.
What I want to know is how to set up a website that Realtors can have their own portal access to for changing pictures and information on their own houses. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? Have I made it clear what I am looking for?
Thanks in advance! MK

I am not sure how to do exactly what you're trying to do. However, while doing some research to setup an SMS program for Realtors I found kurio.com and kurio.mobi. These are MLS listings in mobile format (on the .mobi domain). It's not available in every city yet, and with you being up there in BC it may not be relevant. If it is available, then you can link directly to the Realtor's MLS listing, which he should be able to update himself.

I think Lime Cellular is the best white label SMS marketing platform.

We use txt180 to handle the SMS. I usually just prepay a year and if for some reason they leave me I transfer the code to a new client. It's $10 a month.

So they will have a little sign on their flyer that says text House001 to 12345(or something like that). It sends them an opt-in form and then sends them a text with very minimal details, ie 3/2 1400sf $130,999. And then they go to a static HTML site that I built for the client. It is usually a 6 page website that I can get an outsourcer to build from the MLS listing for around $3. I have very detailed instructions on how to do it.

We charge $99/mo for that service. And we charge $20 for each SMS blast we send out for the client(price changes, open house notifications, nearby properties for sale, etc).

Once you build your first site, the rest are very easy after that. Like I said it takes my outsourcer about an hour to cut and paste information into the new site. Maybe an hour and a half for the first site for a brand new client(brokerage logos, realtor info and such).

        Hey MK,
If I'm understanding correctly your wondering just about setting up a site that can be linked to that is easy enough the realtor can change the pictures?

My answer I don't know, however, I have a couple handful of realtors as clients currently and all of them already have a website or their broker has a site that they keep their homes on. This works more in their favor as well because if the user does not like the pictures they are now on the realtors site and can see any other listings the realtor has as opposed to just what they wanted to look at.
I hope this helps and good luck,
        b

        Marcos - Two quick questions:
Is txt180 based on smtp or is it a true sms system?

Can you reveal your detailed instructions on how to set up the website from MLS listing?

Thanks so much for your contribution here - this is a great thread.

          Hey Jill,
I have been using TXT180 as well for about 8-9 months now and I can tell you their are SMPP or true SMS via shortcode. I've also gotta give them a shout out because they now work with MetroPCS and Cricket which are both growing greatly in my city.
If you are looking at a true SMS on shortcode there are quite a few out there that do this (I've done a lot of research). Here are a few of the bigger:
          Avid mobile - boomtext - mozeo - motomessage - trumpia - TXT180 - EZtexting

          Hope this helps,
          b

@BKH - thanks so much for your reply - that sure helps. I already have a long code service - but for quick texting only, txt180 looks like a decent option.

            Appreciate your information BKH.

I use Openvbx for this sort of thing. I set up a flow whereby someone calls in to the local number, enters in a property code that is on the sign of the listing (ex. 1011). When they do they are taken to a recording that gives them more information about the listing, then they can choose to 1) have a proprety website link sent to their phone, or 2) connect to the listing agent's cell phone.

The key to this for a realtor is that after the prospect enters the property code, the agent immediately is sent a text message letting them know the caller's mobile number and what property they are calling in on. So they have an instant warm lead that they can call back. The caller's number is also added to a mobile list.

So even if the caller hangs up after the recording, the agent knows immediately who called, and on what property so they can follow up with a phone call within minutes.
